Imperial Court Cuisine at Chuan Jing Ban Canting - Gongyuan Tou Tiao 5 - Back Lakes & Dong Cheng, can anyone provide some information about this restaurant?

Jun. 16,2009 01:11
Ms.Tricia(China) replied:

I Know Chuan Jing Ban Restaurant. This is a restaurant of Sichuan style, the food there is spicy. You should know if you can get used to it. Furthermore, since there are always many Chinese people dinning there, it is very crowded and noisy. Besides, this restaurant does not accept reservation on weekends, so you will take a risk to wait in a long queue after you arrive there. But the food is good.

Temple of Heaven, a great smelter of Chinese culture. It is cool seeing how people in their 40''s to 70''s playing Hacky Sack in this park. Children were flying kites, people dancing, people eating and people praying all in this massive park. The temple of Heaven in the southern part of Beijing is China''s largest existing complex of ancient sacrificial buildings.

Ms.Peggy June(Australia)said:

There are two ways from Xingang port to beijing downtown. One is the most direct way but also very expensive. Take a taxi or arrange a car to pick you up from the port and transfer to the city directly, cost at about Y1000 rmb.

Or take a taxi from the port to Tianjin city to take a bus to Beijing international airport. Then take the shuttle bus at about Y16 rmb or taxi at about Y100 rmb to the downtown.

In August of 2008, the Olympic Games will be held in Beijing. I guess the travel price will be affected. Then, when is the best time to visit China? before Aug or after? Will the price be dramatically rise? Beijing as the capital city of china and with the well known great wall and tiananmen square, we don''t want to miss it.

Mr.Prasadsaid:

Due to the Olympic Games, more and more chinese people are learning english. However, to master a language is not a short term project. Most of chinese people could understand easy english sentences or words and are not very familiar to the grammars. When talking with them, use as simple sentence as possible, as "Forbidden city, how to go?"

Maybe you take this for childish, but we did go for it. Worth waiting in line, pay up, dress up in your choice of fine Imperial or traditional Chinese costume and pose for that ultimate picture. Worth the value for money of Y5-20yuan. Years later, this priceless costume picture remains as an unforgettable reminder of your China trip or just for chuckles. There is a good tourist photo studio at the Beijing Summer Palace but you can find them at every major tourist destinations in China.

Ms.Judy Suesaid:

The best restaurant of the old brand "Beijing QuanJuDe Roast Duck" - Qianmen QuanJuDe restaurant is under restoration. There is another Fangzhuang QuanJuDe restaurant also served roast duck, but the service and environment there is not as good as Qianmen QuanJuDe. If you want to taste the authentic peking duck dinner, maybe you should change your travel plan.

Mr.Eugene Kim(United States)said:

The Temple of Heaven is surprisingly not as crowded as Beijing''s other attractions, and is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can easily spend a day here lounging around, strolling through the various nooks and crannies of the park and watching children fly kites. The retired old people may play traditional chinese musical instrument and entertain themselves freely in the corridor. In my opinion, this park is a must visit. I highly recommend it.

Info for the skating lovers:

For skating, Harbin is not the only choice. If you visit Beijing in the winter, you will find that the city has excellent outdoor ice skating at Beihai Park and the Summer Palace. For indoor skating, Beijing's largest rink is the La Cool, National Trade Skating Rink in the underground shopping center that connects the Traders Hotel to the China World Hotel. Open Sunday to Friday from 10:00am-10:00pm. Even more popular in winter among the locals is ice cars (Bing Che). These cars are an exciting experience as they are steered by ski poles and rented for around rmb5.00 per hour. Have a nice time in Beijing.^_~

May Holiday "Golden Week" Maybe cancelled from 2008

For those who don't already know, the first week of May was always a busy one in China. May 1 through 3 was a public holiday nationwide. Most companies would work the weekend before or after as well in order to get a full 5 days off (plus 2 days for the other weekend) making it a full "week" vacation. So the tourism sites are very hot in China during the week. From next year on, the situation may changed. Foreigner visitors don't need to avoid this period to come china any more.
