Also are the prices more expensive in the duty free shops or is it better to buy in the city? Thank you for your help :)

The bird's nest and water cube are easy to go. You can visit it on your own. The guide would also not explain to much to you.
Sep. 27,2009 02:41 Ms.Jane replied:
I feel regret to say sorry to you. It is quite complicated to visit Bird's Nest and Water Cube. Firstly, cars are not allowed to park outside the sites, it is quite a distance to the gate of the site. Thus, it should be tired for you to reach there on foot. Secondly, the ticket office of Water Cube is far away from the site. It takes at least half an hour to buy the tickets. Besides, visitors are only allowed to have the sightseeing according to the time shown on the tickets, which is quite inconvenient. Why not visit on your own?

Sep. 26,2009 20:10 Mr.Stephen replied:
I heard that if your stay within 12 hours, you won't need the visa. However, I am not sure if you should stay within the airport. If you just to want to find a hotel for rest, you can find a hotel not far from the airport. I guess in this circumstance, you won't need the visa.
pls advice if December is ok ( winter ) as far as sightseeing is concerned in Beijing. although, the kids would like to experience snowing.
Sep. 26,2009 20:07 Ms.Claire replied:
In December, it would be cold and dry in Beijing. I think a winter tour to Beijing will be a shock to visitors from tropical countries. Also, the travel cost will be lower than other seasons. However, it’s not sure to rain in winter in Beijing. If you want to see snowing, you’d better visit Harbin which is well-known for its snowy and icy scenery in winter. Remember to keep yourself warm when taking outdoor excursions.
