I am planning a trip to Chengdu and Jiuzhaigao on dec 15 - dec 22 . Can any one recomend a travel agent in Kuala Lumpur that can arrange for land tour. I have book airasia for this trip
I have some inquiries about your itinerary. How much hiking at Jiuzhaigou? Can’t the car take us to most places?
Sep. 10,2009 19:44 Ms.Jiessie replied:
You pose the same doubt with me and I can give you some hint. From Chengdu, you can take flight to Jiuzhaigou and there is not too much driving time during the tour. However, although you will be driven from one sightseeing spot to another one in the Jiuzhaigou scenic area, it probably still needs much walking between the two. This is the best way for tourists to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery inside.
I have planned to Chengdu on 5/12 to 12/12, is it too late to visit Jiuzhaigou, Leshan and emeishan? what will the temperature during this period of time?
How many days do you recommended to visit these few places?
Sep. 8,2009 21:53 Ms.Suzana replied:
Jiuzhaigou is not available for visiting in winter as a result of the bad weather and heavy snow. Leshan and Mt. Emei are ok.
Can someone tell me is it possible to travel from Chengdu to Li Jiang, if possible how long will it takes to travel to Li Jiang and what is the best mean of transportation. Thanks Ong
Sep. 7,2009 19:51 Mr.Keen Young replied:
There are direct flights from chengdu to lijiang which should be the most convenient way. the air tickete is 930.00yuan per way including the airport tax.
I will be in Chengdu soon for 6 days. Can some one tell me what are the interesting places i should visit and the contact of local tours on group basics, which is much cheaper of course.
Hi, by Oct will the Pandas still be in BiFeng Gorge or back to Wolong? What would the temperature be in October? I have a 2 year old son and worry that it might be too cold. Will I get to hold the pandas there too? And if yes, how much will it be? I’m reading that but the charges seem to vary. Some say 1000Yuan, some say 100?
Aug. 25,2009 20:47 Ms.Elean replied:
As said on the website, the Pandas will be in Bifengxia all this year. It is ok to visit Jiuzhaigou in October. It is not too cold. Although I can not give you an exact price for holding the panda, but the approximate price is CNY1000.
I remember it took about half an hour by taxi from Chengdu airport to city center. Chengdu is not a large city. Half an hour driving is the most, I think.
as for in my research I learned that there is a panda center relatively near the Chengdu town. I understand that Bifengxia is far, but is there one closer to the city center?
Aug. 10,2009 01:08 Mr.Holmberg replied:
Besides the Bifengxia Panda Reserve Base, there is the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center which is about 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu. It takes about 30 minutes one-way driving to the Panda Center and about 2 hours for visiting. Hope you enjoy your days there!
Hi. This is azhar, I have planned to visit industrial area of Chengdu and then want to go shanghai industrial area. Please guide me that ; 1.which airport is relate to Chengdu. 2.what root should be adopted from Chengdu to Shanghai. How many time takes by air from Chengdu airport to shanghai airport. 3.How much air fair from Chengdu to Shanghai.
Can anybody please let me how long the train takes from Lhasa to Chengdu, what time it leaves Lhasa and arrives in Cheng Du?
Jul. 30,2009 04:00 Mr.Michael replied:
That's really a long train journey from Lhasa to Chengdu, probably about 45 hours. The current train leaves from Lhasa at 11:15 am and arrives in Chengdu at 07:57 am .
What time shall we get to the Panda's? (I believe they are most active in the morning)
Jul. 26,2009 19:41 Mr.Robert replied:
Yes, pandas are most active in the morning. It takes about 2-2.5 hours’ driving from Chengdu city to Bifengxia Panda Reserve Base. So you can set off early in the morning.
Could you provide some detailed information on adopting pandas from the Panda Research Center in Chengdu.
Jul. 9,2009 21:56 Mr.Sammy replied:
The usual adoption price is CNY50,000.00 for 1 panda for 1 year. You can adopt your preferred panda and the panda will use the name you gave within the year. The staff at the Panda Center will hold a small Adoption Ceremony for you. They will take photo for you and the panda adopted.
I read that the flights to Jiuzhaigou are not dependable, and the weather is bad there. I thought Autumn was the best time to see it. Can we enter there in October?
Jul. 6,2009 20:03 Mr.Danny replied:
Perhaps not. According to the weather, there may have heavy snow after mid of October, and the Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong Valley will be closed due to this. Also, the road will be very slippery and unsafe. The flight will be influenced by the weather also.
We want to go from Chengdu by Bus (or private vehicle) to Juizhiaguo and Huanglong, staying 2 days in this area. After that, we want to go to Xining by bus (or private vehicle) to take the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to Lhasa.
Jul. 5,2009 20:14 Mr.Naite replied:
Dear, how tough the journey you choose! It will take more than 9 hours driving from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. That is to say, it takes almost one day time in the car. You will feel boring and tired and the transfer charge is higher than the airfare. Why not take flight instead? More, it is impossible for you to take car from Chengdu to Xining. Chengdu is far away from Xining. It takes more than 19 hours by train from Chengdu to Xining.
Car trip from Leshan/Emie Shan to Langmussi within one day?
Jun. 22,2009 20:35 Mr.Franco Stecher replied:
I think it’s hard to take it within one day. The linear distance between Leshan and Langmu Temple is about 800 kilometers (497 miles). Even one day's driving cannot cover such a long distance. Besides, LangmuTemple is in Gansu Province, where Lanzhou and Xiahe are located. Leshan is in Sichuan Province.
I only miss som general advertising information about Bifengxia and Panda Reserve!
Jun. 17,2009 04:13 Mr.Alvaro (England) replied:
The official webpage of Bifengxia is in Chinese version. The following introduction of Bifengxia Panda Reserve is for your reference.
Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base is located in Bifengxia Town, Ya'an City of southwest Sichuan Province. It's a giant panda’s paradise with well captive raising, reproduction, rare wild animal rescuing and education facilities. Bifengxia base was opened in 2003 as the part of the world's largest Giant Panda Migration. It is the biggest artificial migration of captive-bred giant panda ever seen.
The new accomplished reserve base is located in altitude of 1100 meters to 1800 meters (3608 feet to 5906 feet). In the base, there are over 20 spots, such as breeding, research centre and special kindergarten, hotel for panda. There 6 kinds of bamboo as panda’s favorite food are supplied.
Pandas will be returned to nature after they have been given relevant training in simulated wild environments. At up to 1200 meters (3937 feet) above sea level, Bifengxia is under the jurisdiction of Ya'an City. In the dense broadleaf forest with singing birds and murmuring streams stands a big gate with the image of a lovely giant panda carved on it, marking the entrance to Bifengxia Giant Panda Base. Walking through the gate and along the meandering mountain slope for a while, visitors can see several European-style cabins made of bricks and tiles. These are the pandas' homes.
More than 20 spots have been set aside for panda-related activities and scientific experiments. There are dedicated grazing grounds, "kindergartens" for young pandas and even a panda hospital and research institute. Several different varieties of bamboo have been planted in the base either by the water or on the slopes. The new home for giant pandas appears like a park with a natural environment.
