We;e planning to visit Guilin Easter holidays and we are photographing lovers. We are arriving at 3h30 and departing sunday at 12h30 and with this tight time what are the tours that we must go and worth a visit?
Regards

Sep. 24,2009 02:18
Ms.Amanda replied:

Oh, your time is really very tight. In view of your tight time schedule, I think you can choose Li River cruise. Scenery along the Li River is considered to be a hundred miles long landscape corridor.

Mrs.Diana(Malaysia)said:

When is the best time to visit Guilin and how long do you think a tourist would required?

Sep. 22,2009 04:14
Mrs.Elizabeth replied:

Guilin has mile weather all the year round and there is enough sunshine even in cold winter. As I belived, the most favorable time to make a visit there should be April to October. Just avoiding the rush crownds of travellers in public holidays, especially the seven-day holiday around October 1. To enjoy the time in both Guilin and Yangshuo, three to five days is enough.

Mr.Simonsaid:

I will visit Guilin this coming October. What is the River cruise like in Guilin? what kind of ship?

Sep. 21,2009 03:34
Mr.Robert replied:

It is really an unforgettable experience cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo,I’m sure you will also be charmed by the scenery along the river. The cruise ship is simple but ok for the short cruise. It is a two-floor opened ship. The first floor is just the bus-shaped cabin with open windows, you can enjoy the beautiful Li River scenery. The second floor is the deck where you can have a better view of the sight. Hope you have a nice tour there.

Hi Alex, the temeperature at that time is about 30 degrees in Guilin. You may have showers sometimes. So take umbrella with you when you get out. Sun block, glasses and hats may help if the weather is sunny. The scenery is beautiful at the time. So, just enjoy your time there and have fun.

Mr.Lotter(South Africa)said:

We want to travel from Hong Kong to Guilin. We do not want to fly. What is the best other way to get to Guilin? What will it cost?

Sep. 16,2009 04:10
Mrs.Winnie replied:

Firstly, you could take bus to the Shenzhen Luohu Railway Station from HK. Then, take train to Guilin directly. Now, ther is only one scheduled train run to Guilin from 17:50 to the next 06:40. It will take you about 13 hours and RMB250 for a hard spleeper. The coach is not suggested because it also cost 13 hours but the road situation is not comfortable.

I would like to plan my holiday to Guilin but where are the local places of attraction you can recommend?

Sep. 7,2009 20:47
Mr.KELMAN replied:

Li River cruise, Elephant Trunk Hill, Yangshuo village, Moon Hill, Seven Star Park, Fubo Hill, Diecai Hill..... Guilin is like a large landscape park itself.

Sep. 8,2009 04:04
Mrs.Emma Wong replied:

Hi, Diana
Have you ever heard of that saying that Guilin has the most beautiful scenery in China and Yangshuo has the most beautiful scenes of Guilin. So visiting Yangshuo is the most highly recommended. The West Street in the center of the town is a blend of Chinese traditional culture with western flavor. Many backpackers prefer to gather around there. While, traveling, cycling or boat excursion, along the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo is also very popular. There are lots of caves, karst peaks, fishing villages worthwhile visiting.

Mr.Vlado Sestan(Serbia)said:

50 years ago I travelled from Guilin to Yangshuo by sampan. I was enchanted with the fantastic beauty of Lijiang scenery which fully proves the truth of the chinese saying: "Lijiang shanshui jia tian xia". I got acquainted with the boat people and the trip in this beautiful land inspired me to write a romantic story,"Daughter of the river", about the life of boat people.I am sure it would be interesting for the tourists who are coming to see the wonders of Lijiang river, especially in view of the fact that the transportatiion by sampans ceased long ago and they can get a glimpse of the life of boat people in my story.I wrote about this also to Guilin tourist association. I hope that that the story might be published in China, in English, for foreign tourists and may be also translated.
I published another story, in Yugoslavia and in Canada "Documents of the Taishan pilgrim" after my pilgrimage to Taishan in 1959.

Sep. 2,2009 03:44
Mr.carolyn franzini(USA) replied:

Dear Mr. Sestan,
I would love to know more about life with the boat people, and more specifically your story. I have been to Yangshuo 5 times. My small town in Kentucky is a sister city with Yangshuo. I taught English there one summer, I took a group of young people there another summer. My husband and I love the beauty of the landscape and the people.
I would like to know more about your experiences in Yangshuo.
