2-Day Tours of Hami - Balikun Lake - Grotesque Rock Mountain - Echoing-Sand Dune - Hami

 
The best time to have this tour is either autumn or winter. On the first day, you will visit the Balikun Lake and Grotesque Rock Mountain. There are two ways to get there. The fist one is take the coach from Hami Passenger Station to Balikun County and then take taxi or local tractor to the twp sights. The second way is to charter a car from Hami directly. Of course, the price will lower if you have some accompaniers to share the transfer fee with you. If you drive the car by yourself, just drive along the No. 203 Provincial Road for about two hours to the north and you will reach the Balikun County. The Balikun Lake is located to the northwest of the County and the Grotesque Rock Mountain is 7 kilometers away from on the north of the Lake. The Balikun Lake was also called "Puleihai" which is a hero's name in a local folklore regarding the Lake. Separated by a north-south sandstone mound, the lake includes the east and west parts. In holiday, the nearby Kazakhstan will hold their folk singers' festival which is called the "A Ken Tan Chang Hui". "A Ken" is a generally name for the Kazakhstan folk singers. Then, drive to visit the Grotesque Rock Mountain to the northwest. The highlights of the mountain are the great deal of caves in various size and shape. Thousands of wild pigeons make nests and inhabit in the caves. Besides the caves, you can also visiting the famous Jinger Spring in the Grotesque Rock Mountain Resort. On the second day, continue the tour to the Echoing-Sand Dune which is in Baishi (White Stone) Town. Maybe you have heard the Echoing-Sand Dune before, but this Echoing-Sand Dune is not the one in Dunhuang. In fact, there are four great Echoing-Sand Dunes in China. They are the Hami Echoing-Sand Dune in Xinjiang province, Dunhuang Echoing-Sand Dune in Gansu Province, Zhongwei Shapotou in Ningxia Hui Nationality Autonomous Region and the Ordos Resonant Sand Gorge in Inner Mongolia. As the name indicates, the sand itself can not make any sound. It is a natural phenomenon of a spectacle that sounds are made when people slide down the sand slop. You may take some pictures of the sand and the spring in the resort. In the rest time, drive to the nearby Baishi (White Stone) Resort composed with Grassland, Virgin Forest and Vacation Village. The resort got the name from a white stone as big as a head of lying cattle. The happy tours finished and please return to Hami before night.
