Health protection while summer travel

Most parts of China in summer being fiery-hot, pay attention to the health protection during the summer travel. Had better choose the light coloured loose clothes, polish some suntan oil on the bared skin, wear the topee and sunglass under the burning sun. Too much sweatting could result in salinity loss, so drink some tea or salty water for compensation. Start the tour early in the morning and have a rest during the hottest period of the day at noon. Continue the tour from 3:00-4:00pm in the afternoon. Learning some first-aid methods about heatstroke is necessary.

It is always fun and useful to learn some basic Chinese mandarin before traveling. I recommend http://www.chinesepod.com You can download free mp3 mandarin lessons. I also found http://www.activechinese.com/ But they have less free content than chinesepod. Talking with the local people about their life and living, you may learn more additional knowledge other than from the guide.

It is not a must that you wear formal clothes. Packing a nice outfit for special events is enough. Just make yourself relaxed and comfortable.

Fashion is not quite as formal here as it might be anywhere else. Meaning that while there are some fashionable dressers here, it's moslty anything goes, anywhere, anytime.
Example are the ladies wearing 'after fives' as daywear and a road worker weilding sledghapmmer in a suit coat and trousers with canvas shoes on his feet.

Just dress comfortable smart casual and you'll be fine. Travel light, that's the key.
