Xi'an - The Starting Point of the Silk Road 

1.   Chang'an Annual International Calligraphy Conference Chang'an Annual International Calligraphy Conference is grandly held by Shaanxi Travel Bureau at the last week of every March from 1986. Chang'an, the former name of Xi'an, is reputed as the home of calligraphy since it is a place from where many celebrated calligraphists have come and it houses numerous calligraphic masterpieces. The famous calligraphic works will be put on exhibition and the four treasures of the study (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab, paper) will be on sale. And the participants will visit the steles and engraved stone tablets at Forest of Stone Steles and Shimen.

2.    Xi'an City Wall International Marathon First inaugurated in 1993, the international marathon of the City Wall has graduated into a famed and reputed sport. On the first Sunday of every November, athletes and sports enthusiasts from all over the world gather together to take part in the competition.

Tianshui - Tianshui Fuxi Culture and Tourism Festival Tianshui Fuxi Culture and Tourism Festival was first launched in 1988 and celebrated in the succeeding July and August every year. There are many activities during the festival, including a memorial ceremony for Fuxi, the local art performances and the traditional song and dance shows.

Wuwei - Tianma Tourism Festival Tianma Tourism Festival is held in Wuwei in the early July. A grand opening ceremony is attractive and superb. And the rare culture relics and tour products that on exhibition also appeal more and more people.

Zhangye - Mati Temple Tourism Festival Mati Temple Tourism Festival is from 15th to 18th August in every year. The brilliant equestrian feats and local traditional athletics can be seen during the period. Besides, the roast mutton, the ghee tea and the barley liquor will also wait for travelers from all over the world.

Dunhuang - Dragon Boat Competation Dragon Boat Competation is held in every May of lunar calendar when all of the towns will celebrate in their own unique and grand ways.

Turpan - Grape Festival In order to memorize the opening of the Silk Road with 2100 years, the Grape Festival was first taken place in 1990 and then become an annul event at the every late August in the succeeding time. The rich and colorful events on the festival are the folk song and dance show, the trade of wine and the tour of Grape and Fruit Street.

Urumqi - Snow Festival The Urumqi Snow Festival has been held in the late December every year since 2002. On the festival, travelers can take part in many interesting activities, such as a group tour to Mountain Tianshan, self-drive adventure, ice sculpture exhibition and experience of hot spring and swimming.

Kashgar - Eid-Al-Adha Festival Eid-Al-Adha Festival, an Arabic word which means a festival of sacrifice, is a feast celebrated by Muslims throughout the world in every December 12th in the Muslim calendar. On the holiday, Muslims in neat dress will attend morning prayers at their local mosques. Besides, shows and athletics can be seen here and there.
