We came across a circumstance in Beijing which is really hard to understand. After we got off the train at Beijing West Railway Station, we tried for 1 hour to get a taxi to pick us up. No one would take a "round eye". Passed us up in the queue each time and took a "local" instead. Even when i could make contact they brushed me off. Stood there like an idiot with my luggage in the middle of the street. My wife and I had to walk from the train station all the way to the hotel, more than a mile, dragging our luggage in the street. Even getting away from the train station area, not one taxi would stop to pick us up. I finally got one taxi to stop because a local guy flagged him down for us. But once he saw it was not locals getting in he took off like a bat out of hell. The guy who tried to help us just shrugged his shoulders and laughed. Like what can i do? As the Olympic Games is coming and held in Beijing, hope people could become a little bit more open minded and friendly. Taxi as the front line people who have first contact with tourists should lead the good examples.
