Tour Features
Take the time to a dream tour. Kathmandu - a fabled capital of convivial pilgrims and carved rose-brick temples, and a splenetic sprawl smothered in dirt, monkeys, beggars and the pollution of diesel fumes. It simultaneously reeks of history and the wear and tear of increasing modernity. While on the contrary, Tibet is an untouched and mysterious land with pure air to breathe, most important of all, the people with pure and original minds.

If you are planning your first trip to China, you will do well to prepare yourself. Especially people from the West will find China very different from their home lands. Things to consider: *China is a huge country; Don't expect to cover vast areas in a week, and getting from one place to another requires a bit of planning, even though especially the Eastern part of China is well connected by road, rail and air. Also pay attention to distances when planning air travel. Climate differences are also big in a country that spans 5000 kms north-south and 5500 kms east-west. There are mountainous areas, areas that have ski resorts in winter, tropical beach resorts, deserts, urban jungles and vast plains. *Language issues; Chinese is not one spoken language, rather a number of spoken languages with one common written language. Mandarin (putonghua) is the lingua franca, but do not expect everyone to be able to speak it, or if they do, pronounce it the same way, just like English is pronounced differently in, say, India and Scotland. English is not widely spoken, unless you speak some Mandarin, you will often have to rely on a phrasebook, and people who can help you out with written instructions in Chinese or taking care of things for you.

There is much to see in China, and history in China goes back thousands of years, not hundreds! The Chinese are avid tourists within their own country, and the tourism industry is big, and growing. There are a lot of services for tourists, but not that many of these are able to cater to foreigners due to the language barrier. However, Chinese generally are very flattered by people interested in their language, culture and history and you will find a lot of people willing to help you. Also, many people who speak a little English are happy to talk to you, if for nothing else then to practice their skills. China is probably the next big tourist hotspot, and as yet, not many Westerners crowd the sights here, but numbers are increasing all the time. Still, in a global perspective, China is still a bit off the beaten path.
