Am making preparation for the coming Yunnan trip. Another question needs help: Could anyone give some advice wether it is worthwhile to spend an afternoon at Impression Lijiang Show or should I choose to visit the surrounding villages instead? Which one you will choose? Welcome your advice and thanks in advance.

I enjoyed the tour in Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Dali and Lijiang last autumn. I had visited the Stone Forest so I went to the Expo Garden instead. That was a memorable experience! Tea Garden, Chinese Medicine Herbs Garden and Vegetable and Fruit Garden were all included. I also had a chance to taste Yunnan Puer Tea. Actually tea in Yunnan varies. Someone told me to have a cup of tea in a place called Tea Culture Research Center of Yunnan Agricultural Institute. That was not very necessary. There were many places where you can enjoy it. I took an afternoon flight to Xishuangbanna so time was enough to stay at the Expo Garden.

In Xishuangbanna, the Tai Culture Garden and the Aini minority village impressed me most. The Plant Reaserch Institute was OK, just a little bit far.

Anyone, who wants to visit these places, can have a medical food if you like. And you'd better enjoy it in Kunming as a dinner since meals in other place may not meet your expectation, I am afraid.

One concern is that the breakfasts in Yunnan are somewhat disappointing, comparing to the breakfasts offered in hotels in Hong Kong, Taiwan or Japan. The other meals are OK but fairly ordinary. In fact, meals are in general not very expensive in China. Since I can read the Chinese menu, I'll rather order from the menu and pay for it myself next time. That way, I can get higher quality food, like fresh fish or roasted duck.
