It's so easy to say yes to becoming a volunteer
via the Internet that many individuals sign up to do so before really
considering what such a commitment involves.
Before you volunteer to help us via the Internet,
consider the following so as to determine whether you can make a
commitment:
- Regular, ongoing access to the Internet
If you only have access at college, and the semester is about
to end; or, if you are about to switch Internet providers or
computers, now is probably not a good time to volunteer to undertake
a project.
- Age and Education
As most readers of our site are middle-aged people who love
China and traveling to China, you will probably have at least
a bachelor's degree. However, if you are very skilled in writing,
this requirement can be ignored.
- Writing Skills
Excellent writing skills are essential. As English as your native
language, you will have the ability to make our articles more
idiomatic.
- Spare time
You need to be able to devote time to the task, as once you
volunteer, we may send you an article of not less than 500 words
per week which could take 2 -3 hours to correct. We expect the
article to be returned promptly, within a week. Of course, the
volunteer's manager will be very understanding of your job and
family commitments, so he/she will send you assignments according
to what you feel you can achieve -- but they do count on you
to finish assignments you undertake.
If you answered no to any of the above questions,
or had difficulty answering some of the questions, perhaps you are
not ready for volunteering at this time.
If you answer YES to ALL questions above, you are
the very person we are looking for!
