Day 1 Arrival in Chennai
Upon your arrival in Chennai, our guide will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. We open with a visit to the Government Museum of rare artistic works, especially in the Bronze and National Art Galleries. Then follow it up by a coach tour about the bustling Flower and Fruit Market. Next, you will see the High Court characterized by its Indo-Saracenic architecture, and then the Fort Museum with artifacts like armory, coins and medals. Afterwards, proceed to the stunning Marina Beach for a taste of the carnival-like atmosphere, and follow pilgrims' footprints to Santhome Cathedral.

Day 2 Chennai - Mahabalipuram
Today, your Sri Lanka tour from India leads to resort town of Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram). En route, we will stop at Kanchipuram where the ancient capital of Pallavas Dynasty (275 - 897) once stood. It is now a collection of temples, statues and carvings. Today, for an immersion of Buddhist culture and history, you will be shown well-preserved and quaint temples, including Shiva, Ekambareswarar, Kailasanathar, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy. Upon your arrival in Mahabalipuram, you will check in a hotel and have a good rest.

Day 3 Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry
Morning visit Mahabalipuram, cave temples and mandapams cut in the rocks, drive to Pondicherry & check in at the hotel. (B)
Mahabalipuram is a tranquil town famed for nearby cave temples on the seashores, which were listed as the UNESCO World Culture Heritage Sites. This morning, we will tour several typical cave temples, examples of the architectural masterpieces in Pallava period. The vivid and exquisite Mandapams cuts in the rocks reflect the glorious religious culture and art in Mahabalipuram. In the afternoon, you move to Pondicherry (officially known as Puducherry), and you will stay at a local hotel for overnight.

Day 4 Pondicherry
Visit Pondicherry, French Quarter, Indian Quarter. (B)
Pondicherry was ruled by France from 1673 to 1954, with a legacy of French colonial buildings. Follow our guide to roam the French Quarter basked in yellow, pink and white colors. On both sides of the wide flora-lined streets, a lot of French flavored boutique stores and cafes run their business. After that, you will explore the Indian Quarter on the other side of a canal. The cultural contrast brings you back to the mysterious India at once.

Day 5 Pondicherry - Chennai - Colombo - Negombo
Drive to Chennai airport, fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka. Airport pick-up & transfer to hotel in Negombo. (B)
Today, you will be transferred to Chennai Airport for a flight bound for Colombo, the most popular gateway to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and escorted to the hotel in Negombo. The rest of the day is free for your own exploration, and you may check out some native attractions, such as Hamilton Canal, local fishing villages and beaches.

Day 6 Negombo - Dambulla - Sigiriya
Negombo Fish Market, Lellama Fishing Village, Dutch Cannel, Dambulla Cave Temple, Drive to Sigiriya. (B+L)
You can wake up early to visit Negombo Fish Market (6.00 - 6.30am) and get a great insight into local commerce. Then visit Lellama - the Fishing Village, Dutch Cannel and study the irrigation system.

Later we will proceed towards the country's rich Cultural Triangle (approximately 4.5 hours). Once in Dambulla, get started with the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, a Buddhist shrine, where you examine its well-preserved and delicate murals, statues and sculptures. Take your time to visit all 5 caves. We continue drive to Sigiriya and check in at the hotel.

Day 7 Sigiriya
Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Visit a Local School, Foot Massage. (B+L)
Sigiriya is an impressive stop of your Sri Lanka tour from Chennai, which boasts a number of historical relic sights. In the morning the sunlight climbs the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a World Heritage Site. We will start with the Lion Rock. It is a giant natural reddish rock rising into the sky among the lush tropical forest, on the top of which nestles a grand palace ruin. Visit the world renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway.

The Sri Lankan children are so friendly and courteous. Take an interesting visit to a local school. You may take this as a chance to share your thoughts with them. This would take you back to your past and enjoy the moment. As you may be tired, take time for yourself. A good Foot Massage (approximately 30 minutes) can be a good turn on. Return to your hotel and relax.

Day 8 Sigiriya - Kandy
Drive to Kandy, Spice Garden, Kandy Bazaar, Art & Craft Centre, Batik Factory, Gem Museum & Lapidary, Culture Dance Show, Temple of Tooth Relics. (B+L)
In the morning, your Chennai to Sri Lanka package will continue to Kandy, the blessed city (approximately 3.5 hours). In the midway visit the famous Spice Garden to learn a variety of spices, such as coco, cayenne and sandalwood with the help of a local spice expert.

Upon arrival in Kandy, you will be brighten up by a memorable city tour including Kandy Bazaar, Art & Craft Centre and Batik Factory and see the local lifestyle of Sri Lankans. Then visit a Gem Museum for a glimpse at the world's famous gem treasures including rubies, emeralds, opals and sapphires. In the evening, you will join the Culture Dance Show (5.00pm - 6.00pm) and visit the Temple of Tooth Relics (evening ceremony). It enshrines a precious tooth sarira of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism. You shall remove your shoes and be in proper attire as a sign of respect.

Day 9 Kandy
Kandy's Three Main Temples: the Lankatilaka, Gadaladeniya and Embekke, Kandy Lake. (B+L)
In the morning, we will pay a visit to Kandy's Three Main Temples: the Lankatilaka, Gadaladeniya and Embekke belonging to the 14th century. Gadaladeniya is built of stone and reminds us of the South Indian influence of the period. Lankatilaka temple is a magnificent brick building in white and in the shrine room is a superb seated image of the Buddha. Embekke temple is famed for its carved wooden pillars with intricate designs. If you have spare time, you will have a leisurely walk around the beautiful Kandy Lake. Return to your hotel & relax.

Day 10 Kandy - Galle
Drive to Galle, Giragama Tea Plantation, a Tea Factory, Galle Dutch Fort. (B+L)
Today, your Chennai to Sri Lanka package extends to Galle by car (approximately 5-5.5 hours), which is well known for the Dutch Fort & its Fortifications. En-route you will visit a local tea factory to taste the most authentic British black tea. And then in a relaxing walk among the verdant tea gardens, you get the essence of tea plantations in Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival visit the exotic Galle Dutch Fort. The Portuguese built the fort around Galle's natural harbor upon their arrival in 1505. The numerous schools and the magistrate court within the premises makes this 'living fort' one with character that is delightful.

Day 11 Galle - Colombo
Train experience to Colombo City, Train station-hotel transfer, Rest of the day is free. (B+L)
Today you will board on a train at Galle Railway Station northwards to Colombo City, the capital of Sri Lanka. The railway from Galle to Colombo follows the coastal route and is scenic and enjoyable. The 3-4 hours journey offers chances of photos with locals, as well as beautiful views of ocean and some spectacular places the train passes by. Upon arrival, picked up and transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure.
