Namibia Desert Adventure

Thanks for choosing our Namibia desert safari and welcome to Windhoek! Your driver guide will pick you up at Hosea Kutako International Airport and drive 45 minutes to our lodge at Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary. The purpose of Naankuse is to protect the wild life, natural landscape and traditional culture in Namibia and provide a chance for people to contact with wild animals. After a short rest, have a sunset game drive in Zannier Reserve to come across the creatures on African savannah like elephant, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, and various antelopes. Afterwards, go back to the lodge to enjoy dinner.

After breakfast, drive to next destination, Sossusvlei. Located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, it has the most representative red dunes of Namib Desert and is seen as the most famous attraction in Namibia by many travel lovers. During the 4-5 hours' drive, we'll stop on the way to have a rest and take pictures. We can taste the Apple Pie in the small town Solitaire. After arriving at the lodge, enjoy dinner.

Before sunrise, we'll leave for the park and wait for the park to open at the entrance gate which usually opens at sunrise. We'll drive about 30 minutes to reach the Sossusvlei area. On the way, you will see the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib Desert. The clear blue sky contrasts sharply with the huge red sand dunes, making it one of Africa's natural wonders. You will see the famous Dune 45 which is an old red sand dune with 80 million years of history, the tallest Big Daddy Dune which is about 325 meters (1,066 feet) high, and Deadvlei, a white dry salt pan to be shutterbug's paradise. In the afternoon, participate in the sundowner drive arranged by the lodge.

The next stop is Swakopmund, a famous coastal city on the Atlantic coast of Namibia which was once the center of German colonial rule. The whole city has a strong German architectural style. Drive about 343 km (213 mi) which takes 4 hours and arrive at the hotel in the evening. Swakopmund has many restaurants, and the guide will be happy to recommend some according to your preference.

In the morning we'll take part in an adventure: Living Desert Experience. With the help of a local expert, we will learn about the wildlife of the Namib Desert with other travelers around the world. Then we are going to look for scorpions, snakes, lizards and plants that survive in this seemingly desolate environment. In the afternoon, head to Walvis Bay which is the most important wetland in Southern Africa. Thousands of migratory birds live here. And the most eye-catching sight is the pink flamingos on the shore side, attracting many travelers and photographers. After that we’ll return to Swakopmund.

Today we will return to Windhoek. The driver guide will take you to Hosea Kutako International Airport or your hotel in the city. You can also depart from Walvis Bay Airport, which has flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg. Wish you a pleasant trip!
