Today, in the company of your guide, you will enjoy a 1 day Beijing walking tour by exploring imposing Forbidden City, visiting Jingshan Park with a panoramic view of Forbidden City and strolling around the imperial garden Beihai Park. The whole itinerary takes about six to seven hours with a walking distance of about 5 kilometers (3 miles). The main ways of transport include walk, subway and public bus. If you want to take a taxi, the expense needs to be paid by yourself.

In the morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby at the appointed time and then escort you to the Tiananmen Square by subway or bus. The guide will confirm the exact meeting time with you one day in advance. Tiananmen Square is 880 meter (875 yards) long and 500 meters (547 yards) wide which can accommodate 1 million people to hold a grand assembly at the same time. Standing at the square, you are able to see the Monument to the People's Hero, the majestic Great Hall of the People and other landmark buildings. Tiananmen used to be the main gate of the imperial city in Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing Dynasty (1616 - 1912).
Take a pleasant walk around Tiananmen Square
After walking through the square, we will come to the highlight of your Beijing 1 day walking tour - Forbidden City which is the representative of ancient palace architecture. With more than 70 palaces and 9,000 rooms, Forbidden City is the largest and most well-preserved existing wooden architectural complex in China and even in the world. It would be an unforgettable experience to listen to the stories in the past meanwhile observing the exquisite ancient architectures.

Follow your guide to enter the Meridian Gate and pass the Gate of Supreme Harmony, then visit the three main halls in Outer Court including Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony and Hall of Preserved Harmony, and the three main palaces in Inner Court called Palace of Heavenly Purity, Hall of Celestial and Terrestrial Union and Palace of Earthly Tranquility. If you are interested in other places, your guide will be happy to accompany you to tour other palaces like Hall of Ancestry Worship, Palace of Compassion and Tranquility, the Six Eastern Palaces and Six Western Palaces. Besides, the Treasure Gallery and Gallery of Clocks are worth visiting as well, but the extra entry fees are at your own expense. After passing the Imperial Garden, we will exit the Forbidden City from the Gate of Devine Prowess.
Explore the imposing palaces in the Forbidden City
Across the street is the entrance of Jingshan Park. Today's lunch will be at your own responsibility. Since the expense of the restaurants in Forbidden City is relatively high, we do not suggest you have meal there. There are various cost-effective restaurants along the East and West Streets of Jingshan Park where you can have your lunch. Your guide will be ready to give you some advice.

After that, we will enter Jingshan Park for a visit. Jingshan Hill in the center of the park used to be the highest place of the city from where visitors can have a panoramic view of majestic Forbidden City. The scenery in the park is also charming, and many locals like to do exercise, sing or play instruments there. If you do not want to climb the hill, wondering around the park is also a nice choice.

Leaving from Jingshan, we will walk a few minutes to Beihai Park. With a history of about 1,000 years, Beihai Park is the most ancient and well-preserved royal garden in China now. The park, centered by Beihai Lake, boasts impressive scenery. It would be very idyllic to take a walk along the lake and watch the imperial architectures around.
Admire the charming scenery in Beihai Park
After the visit, your 1 day Beijing walking tour ends here. If you still have energy, you may go to Houhai which is only three bus stops away. With various bars and restaurants, it is popular among both locals and tourists.
