Today, with the companion of your guide, you will go sightseeing in the Hutongs and two significant world heritage sites in Beijing: Forbidden City and Summer Palace. Your driver will offer service in the whole Beijing highlights tour. After picking you up at the appointed time in the hotel, we will drive to Tiananmen Square first and spend about half an hour there. Your guide will introduce the history of the square and the surroundings architecture. Then go to the Forbidden City at the north end of the square on foot. Follow your guide to appreciate the main palaces in the Forbidden City and have a general understanding of the politics and royal life in the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing Dynasties (1644 - 1911). In the afternoon, you will experience the traditional rickshaw when touring the Hutongs. We will also visit a family there and the host will show you around to introduce the layout of the courtyard. Tiananmen Square

Hutong
Hutong is regarded as the cultural representative of old Beijing. To know about the original local life in Beijing, visiting Hutongs can be the best choice. Most Beijing Hutongs are formed in the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368). Standing on both sides of the Hutongs are the traditional courtyards, a unique form of residence in China with a history of more than 3,000 years. Although all the Hutongs look similar with gray tiles and walls, each Hutong has its own stories that worth exploring. There are also featured stores selling daily products and souvenirs.
Summer Palace
Used to be the imperial garden in the Qing Dynasty, Summer Palace is renowned as "The Museum of Royal Gardens". Now, it is the largest existing imperial garden in China with an area of 290 hectares (717 acres). It is mainly composed of Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill. Wondering on the hill to see the cultural relics or sailing a boat in the lake are quite idyllic and relaxing. The main scenic spots are the Hall of Benevolence & Longevity, Hall of Joyful Longevity, Seventeen-Arch Bridge, Suzhou Market Street, etc. During the visit, you will feel the charm of the garden in southern China style.
