Day01 Beijing
Mutianyu Great Wall
In the morning, your private guide will pick you up at your hotel at 08:30 to start your 2 days Great Wall tour. We will take a comfortable car to Mutianyu Great Wall first, which is 70 km northeast of central Beijing. This section has unique characteristics and is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful scenery. We will take the national first-rate cable car up, have around 1-2 hours walk on the wall, and then come back down via the cable car. Lunch is on your arrangement. Climbing the Great Wall is an energy-consuming activity and you may have a late lunch, so we kindly suggest you have a big breakfast at your hotel or prepare some snacks in advance. Generally the lunch will be around 14:00. Your tour guide will advise you on restaurants nearby. On the way back to downtown Beijing, we will drive by the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium), where you can take pictures of the exterior before going back to the hotel.

Day02 Beijing
Our clients on the Great Wall
Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 09:00 and drive to Tiananmen Square. Name after the Tiananmen Gate, the remarkable Tiananmen Square is the largest city center square in the world. Here you can find the Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People and Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall. To the north of the Tiananmen Square, we will walk to the magnificent Forbidden City, which is the world's largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. It was the former imperial palace for twenty-four emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties and now is known as the Palace Museum, housing over a million rare and notable works of art. Lunch will be arranged on your own; however, our guide will be more than happy to advise you on good restaurants. After the lunch, we will continue our Great Wall tour in 2 days to pay a short visit to the National Grand Theatre, where you can appreciate the beauty of China's modern architecture. Then continue the trip with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, which is the most representative sacrificial building of ancient China. The exterior park is now a diverse and remarkable gathering place for locals. After the 2 days Great Wall tour is completed, we will transfer you back to your hotel.

Once I am in China, can I travel independently?
Once I am in China (Kunshan) can I travel to say Beijing and visit the Great Wall independently for two or three days, or do I need to use a travel agency/apply now on my Visa application? I’m not sure of dates I may want to travel to Beijing?

Of course, you are. When you obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa, you are free to travel throughout the country as you wish with the exception of Tibet and the nearby areas that require a special permit.

The transportation system in Beijing is very convenient, so I suggest you book a hotel which is near a subway station. For your reference, The Peninsula, Beijing(5-Star), Novotel Beijing Xin Qiao (4-star) and Days Inn Forbidden City, Beijing (3-star) are all good choices.

UK to Beijing to Tianjin Port to go on a cruise
I am flying to Beijing from the UK via Abu Dahbi. From Beijing (Forbidden City and Mutianyu Great Wall) I will go to Tianjin Port to go on a cruise which goes on to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc and ends in Singapore. Am I eligible for a 144 hour visa free transit?

Yes, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. There is only one detail that should be fulfilled... Your cruise should not have its first port of call, immediately after Tianjin, in any mainland Chinese port.

We are travelling from Edinburgh to Beijing.
Staying for 3 nights then onto Hong kong for 5 nights then back to Edinburgh (via Beijing but only a layover). Is this fine for 144 hour transit? and is it just a form to fill out on the plane before we land in Beijing? Thank you!

You are fine for 144 hours visa free transit in both of your legs although the second one will be just a short layover in Beijing, so not so important detail.

You will get a form to fill in on the plane, although more important form will be handed to you at Beijing immigration 144 hours TWOV counter. By the way, you should have all the documentation, i.e. flight tickets and accommodation bookings in printed form upon your landing in Beijing.
