Today, you will meet your tour guide and driver at the hotel lobby at around 08:00 am. After a warming greeting, you will take a comfortable car ride heading to the Mutianyu Great Wall to start your Great Wall and Summer Palace tour. It takes about 1.5 hours. During the time, your guide will introduce you as much as possible the information about the Beijing city and the Great Wall.

Upon arrival at the Mutianyu Great Wall, we will arrange a round-way cable car for you to go up and down the Wall, to avoid 500 mountain steps. You will have more than 2 hours on the Great Wall to appreciate the magnificent scenery and take amazing photos. Instead of the cable car, we can also arrange for you to take the chairlift up and toboggan down the Wall with no any extra fare, which are more popular among Young people. You could make a decision when you arrive and your guide will help you make proper arrangements.

We will spend the whole morning on this former military fortification. Lunch is on your own and your guide will provide advice. In the afternoon, we drive back to the downtown Beijing to take a leisurely visit to the Summer Palace, where you will enjoy the natural beauty of the lake, hill, unique bridge, long gallery, as well as some classic royal buildings. A Kunming Lake boat ride will be specially arranged for you. Instead of the Summer Palace, we also have another choice for you. That is to tour the traditional Hutong alleys by rickshaw and visit the residential courtyards, to immerse yourself in the local culture. Whichever you choose, your guide will ensure a pleasant experience. Finally, your Great Wall and Summer Palace day trip concludes, and your guide and driver will take you back to the hotel. Hope you enjoy travelling with us! Thank you.

Tour Highlights
Mutianyu Great Wall
Mutianyu Great Wall had great military significance during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) for protecting the northern border of the capital city as well as the imperial mausoleums - the Ming Tombs. It was built during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577) and then rebuilt twice in 1368 and 1568 during the Ming Dynasty, and finally became what it is today in 1569. You can see 23 watchtowers distributed along the more than 2,000 meters (2,200 yards) long ramparts and three of them were built closely at the Zhengguan Terrace, which is very rare. Apart from the Zhengguan Terrace, the beacon tower seated at the eastern end of the wall, named the Big Corner, is not to be missed, either. It occupies the highest position of the whole area, which is the best viewing platform to have a full view of the Great Wall.

Summer Palace
The Summer Palace, with a history of around 250 years, is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. The garden mainly consists of the Kunming Lake and the Longevity Hill. Occupying three quarters of the whole area, the Kunming Lake is like a large mirror reflecting the nearby Longevity Hill and the outstanding Tower of Buddhist Incense which leans against the hill. Loitering around the lake can provide you more fun as we appreciate the exquisite paintings at the Long Gallery, have a rest at the lakeside Marble Boat, and take good shots of the lake backed by the Longevity Hill at the Seventeen-Arch Bridge.

Hutong Tour
Traditional blocks in Beijing are full of crisscrossing stone-paved alleys. These alleys have a common name - Hutong. Hutong is not only the busy traffic line, but also a folk museum which vividly demonstrates the traditional lifestyle of the ordinary Beijingers. Taking a leisurely walk along these hutong alleys, you can not only have a close look at the distinctive grey-tiled courtyards, but also treat yourself with authentic local cuisines at quaint restaurants. Besides, you will also have a chance to take a rickshaw through the hutongs, which seems to draw you back to the early 20th century of China.

We had been to the Badaling Great Wall without a guide before. During this Mutianyu tour, we met fewer tourists than in Badaling. It was a great pleasure to meet our quite professional and considerate guide, Candy.

Although the Mutianyu Great Wall was still popular by many visitors in winter, Candy organized everything well. We had a good time and took a lot of perfect family photos. Strongly recommend Candy as your Beijing day trip guide.

It was really a fantastic Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace tour. I liked our guide Tina very much. She spoke English well and told us many facts about Beijing. The historical stories of the two scenic spots were also extensive and engaging. I hope to have her as my guide when I visit Beijing in the future!

Linda was one of the best guides I had ever met. She was very responsible and professional and looked after everyone well. I was satisfied with the 1 day Beijing tour to Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace. And I’d like to say that traveling to Beijing in August was not a good choice as it was so hot.

It was a wonderful Beijing day tour. The viewing time at Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace was long enough but we weren’t bored at all because of our guide’s interesting and detailed explanations along with the cultural background.

Our trip to Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The guide Linda was very professional and her introductions to each spot were detailed and funny. Many thanks to her dedicated work, we learned a lot about the history and the development of those two attractions. An unforgettable and delightful trip! I would explore other spots in Beijing if I had another chance.

This tour was full of joy and interest. My son was extremely cheerful. In the morning, we climbed the Mutianyu Great Wall and viewed the fantastic scenery on the top. Hiking the Great Wall was an energy-consuming activity, tired but meaningful. Our next spot was the Summer Palace, where we rode a boat around the Kunming Lake, so funny. Very grateful for our guide Tina, she arranged this funny itinerary and offered thoughtful service. The pickup and delivery service were great! A worthwhile tour!
