After a two-hour drive we will reach the entrance for the Longji Terraces where you will transfer to an eco-sightseeing bus bound for the rice terraces in Ping'an Village, about a 40-minute drive. This village has the most famous and beautiful rice terraces in Longji. Then we will take a moderate trek along steps to Ping'an Zhuang Village. The walk up takes about 40 - 60 minutes. Upon arrival, our guide will take you on a stroll around the village where you can glimpse the local Zhuang peoples' unique wooden stilted houses. Lunch is on your own. Our expert guide can give you some advice on the food choices in the village.

Tour Highlights
Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces
The Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces is a splendid agricultural spectacle with a history of more than 650 years. The most eye-catching part of the terrace cluster is the Ping'an Village Rice Terrace, which was the earliest one discovered by tourists and photographers. Numerous narrow rice fields dug along the hill slopes form terraces connected by winding flagstone trails. There are viewing platforms for visitors to view the entire terrace fields built tier upon tier. While you are there you can also experience the minority Zhuang people's traditional way of life. It is quite interesting to help them in the fields, try on their bright-colored ethnical costumes, and visit their unique stilted houses.

When is the best time to visit the Longji Rice Terraces?
The scenery of the terraces varies with the seasons. The period from mid-April through May is the spring ploughing season when water is channeled down to the fields. With reflections of hills and clouds, the terraces are just like a glittering paint palette, perfect for shooting sunrise and sunset scenes.

From mid-May through July, the paddies are carpeted with green. In the October harvest season they turn to a sea of gold. If you come at the right time in winter, you may catch the rare scene of snow on the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces.

Which is more beautiful
Dazhai or Pinganzhai. How much further is one from other? Can you do both in one day?

As I think, both Dazhai and Pinganzhai are beautiful. The terrace fields in Dazhai has more grand sight than Pinganzhan, but in Pinganzhai, it is less challengeable to climb up the view plant than in Dazhai. The distance between Dazhai and Pinganzhai is about 20 km but it is a little tight if you do both in one day. Maybe two days is better.

You need to take the express bus from Guilin Qintan Bus Station first to Longsheng County, and then transfer to the shuttle bus at Longsheng Bus Station to Dazhai Village or the shuttle bus to Pinganzhai Village. Besides, if you would like to return to Guilin downtown at the same day, you are suggest leave the scenic spot before 15:00.
