Today, you will embark on a Guilin day tour to the Huangyao Town. In the morning, your English-speaking guide and experienced driver will pick you up from your downtown hotel, and then drive for around 3 hours to the Huangyao Ancient Town.

With typical karst landform, the old town is skirted by splendid hills, towering trees and clear streams. It looks like a primitive and simple village with different kinds of pavilions, various temples, ancestral halls and many old trees. Upon arrival, we will explore this serene town firstly by visiting the old folk houses. There are more than 300 old residences scattered along the narrow streets and each of them was constructed and decorated in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1644 - 1912). As the ancient town offers a lot of local delicacies, we will leave today's lunch on your own arrangements and your guide will be delighted to recommend some restaurants according to your preference. After the lunch break, we will continue to discover more hidden spots and sights in the old town, such as the Immortal Ancient Well, Dailong Bridge, An’le Temple, The Ancient Opera Stage, "Dragon Claw" Banyan etc.

Tour Highlights
Huangyao Ancient Town
Located by the lower reach of the Lijiang River, Huangyao is a tranquil and beautiful town about 200 kilometers (120 miles) from Guilin. With a history of more than 1,000 years and covering an area of 3.6 square kilometers (1.4 square miles), the town houses well-preserved folk residences, ancient archways, marble-paved streets, stone bridges, opera stages, ancestral halls, old wells, temples, and pavilions. There are eight flagstone-paved streets crisscrossing the entire town, which stretch for over 10 kilometers (6 miles) in total.

The Immortal Ancient Well (Xianren Gujing)
There are five ancient wells scattered in the north of the old town, with a depth of over one meter for each. One is used for the local residents drinking only, one for washing vegetables and the remaining three are used for washing clothes and tools. During the water festival on the seventh day of July in Chinese lunar calendar, locals get water from the wells before 12:00 am and hold worship rituals to pray for health and peace.

Dailong Bridge
Dailong Bridge
The age-old Dailong Bridge is also a highlight that should not be missed in Huangyao. Built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), it is the oldest and largest ancient bridge in the town. With the old banyan trees and folk residences as the backdrop, the bridge stretches over a gurgling stream and provides a fantastic scene, alongside oddly-shaped rocks resembling turtles, camels and snakes.
