Tiananmen Square is one of the largest city squares in the world where the founding ceremony of People's Republic of China was held in 1949. Monument to the People's Heroes and the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao are in the center of the square. Walk northward and start the Forbidden City tour from the Meridian Gate, to feel the highlight of the 2 days imperial tours Beijing. Forbidden City used to be the imperial palace where 24 emperors in Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing Dynasties (1644 - 1911) has ever lived. It is now one of the largest and most well-preserved ancient wooden architectural complexes in the world. The whole palace is mainly composed of Outer Court for political affairs and Inner Court for living.

After visiting the main architectures, we will leave from Gate of Devine Prowess and go to Jingshan Park across the street. Your guide will recommend you some nice restaurants for lunch which is arranged on your own. After that, we will continue to visit Jingshan Park, the imperial garden in the past. It is highly recommended to climb up to Wanchun Pavilion at the top of Jingshan Hill where you can overlook the whole Forbidden City. Then, we will spend about one hour on bus or subway to the Temple of Heaven, the place where the emperors worshiped the heaven and prayed for a harvest year in ancient times.

The first day of your Beijing imperial tour comes to an end. Your guide will show you the nearest subway station and you can go back to your hotel or go to other place as you like.
