Day 3 Beijing
Visit Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City including Treasure Gallery; enjoy an a la carte welcome lunch with authentic Peking Duck; continue to visit Yonghe Temple and Temple of Heaven; and watch the classic Peking Opera in the evening. (B+L)
Forbidden City, Beijing
Today, we will start your China tours from Mumbai with Tiananmen Square, located in central Beijing. From there we will walk north to the Forbidden City, the imperial palace for China for over four centuries until the downfall of the last imperial dynasty in 1912. You will explore splendid palaces where the emperors once lived and dealt with state affairs, witness the apex of traditional palace architectural art, and marvel at the wisdom of ancient Chinese people. Even the gate has secrets to uncover - the golden copper-iron knobs on it, nine in a row and nine in a column, represents the highest social status; in the past there were also mud applied on them, so they could serve a defensive role against impact and firing arrows. While touring inside the City, we will also check out its Treasure Gallery.

Around noontime, an a la carte welcome lunch with Peking Duck (valued CNY 150 per person and included in our price) will be served.

Next, our guide and driver will take you to Yonghe Temple, the imperial lamasery, and Temple of Heaven, where the emperors prayed to Heaven in hope of a great harvest. Tonight, we will watch a live Peking Opera Show in Liyuan Theatre, after admiring how actors put on stage makeup and dress themselves with lavish clothes backstage.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte welcome lunch
Day 4 Beijing
Visit Mutianyu Great Wall by round-trip cable car and toast for Great Wall challenge with red wine; drive by Olympic Bird's Nest; then take a rickshaw ride through Hutong alleys and visit a local family in a traditional courtyard house. (B)
Mutianyu Great Wall
This morning, we will head to the Mutianyu Great Wall. A round-trip cable car is arranged to save you from climbing the wall. Be ready to stand on one of the most miraculous engineering feats of mankind, which winds its way for thousands of miles for visitors to revere. In order to celebrate this amazing moment, a red wine toast will be arranged on the wall. We do not provide lunch for you today because the restaurants around don't meet our service standard, so you might want to bring some fast food with you; our guide of course will be glad to recommend some on-site restaurants if need be.

In the afternoon, we will drive back to downtown area. We will have a short stop at Olympic National Stadium, also famous as the Bird's Nest, where you get to photograph its award-winning structure. Continue on to Hutong alleys to enjoy a tour via rickshaw and visit a local family, which inhabits a courtyard house among others packing either side of the alleys.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit Panda House in Beijing Zoo and then the Summer Palace, the largest royal garden in China so outstanding as to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6 Xi'an
Visit Terracotta Army and the discoverer’s home of the first terracotta warrior; have a unique experience to make your own mini clay warrior; continue to visit Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, and then enjoy dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show in the evening. (B+D)
The Terracotta Army
We choose the legendary Terracotta Army - the army built to protect Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 – 210 BC), the first emperor of China, in his afterlife - to start your tour in Xi'an. You will visit three excavated pits to see pottery warriors and horses, as well as bronze chariots and weapons. You might’ve thought or heard that Emperor Qin was a brutal tyrant, but evidence has been unearthed to prove this is perhaps a misjudgment for lack of historical facts. Records from over a thousand bamboos slips - medium for writing for absence of paper - of the Qin era have revealed some of his benevolent acts: one is that, if farmers failed to pay tax in grain at a designated time and didn’t have money for fine, they would be mercifully sentenced to penal labor, with salary available; another is that, during his time, farming, forest preservation, and livestock breeding among others were categorized to government-authorized work types. From all these, we can infer that Emperor Qin ruled in a much civilized way. At his mausoleum, you get to discover more intriguing facts about this historic figure from our guide.

Our tour at the museum site will be finished off with a visit to the family of the farmer who discovered the first terracotta warrior; you will also join a lesson to make a mini clay warrior by yourself, which you can take home.

In the afternoon, we will head to Giant Wild Goose Pagoda to learn about some history of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). When night comes, watch the fascinating Tang Dynasty Show while enjoying a delicious dumpling dinner.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Dumpling dinner

Please note:
Since the theater is usually not open in January, February, March, and December, we will not arrange the show and dumpling dinner for tours during these periods. You will enjoy free time to do whatever please you.
Day 7 Xi'an - Shanghai
Connect with local people at City Wall Park and learn to practice Tai Chi from a master, then visit City Wall; taste local flavors for lunch at Muslim Quarter; Fly to Shanghai & transfer to hotel. (B+L)
Locals Playing Taichi at the City Wall Park
In the morning, we will stroll City Wall Park at leisure for you to observe local life and learn some moves of Tai Chi martial art from a master. Continue to climb Xi'an City Wall, the mightiest city wall left by ancient China. How about some bike riding (bike rental fee is not included in our price) on the wall? Just like other visitors, you will love it as well! Your lunch will be tackled at the lively Muslim Quarter, patronized by locals and tourists alike for authentic local food.

In the afternoon, our Xi'an guide will accompany you to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. After arrival, our Shanghai guide will wait for you at the arrival hall and take you to the hotel.

India and China are often compared with each other as they hold the biggest populations in the world, so are Mumbai and Shanghai, for being the most economically-advanced cities in the world. Although Mumbai falls behind Shanghai in terms of infrastructure, Mumbai enjoys a rich history when it comes to finance, it will never cease to continue forward. As your hotel sits in the commercial center, why not explore around in your free time and give Shanghai a chance to introduce its ceaseless energy to you?

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Local lunch
Accommodation: Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World (5 stars)
Day 8 Shanghai
Visit Shanghai Museum and Yu Garden; enjoy an a la carte farewell lunch; have a panoramic view of the city skyline, and then explore the Bund with a Huangpu River cruise tour. (B+L)
Our Guests at the Bund
We will first visit Shanghai Museum, which exhibits a series of ancient collections, including jade, coins, old furniture and paintings. Then, visit Yu Garden and the traditional bazaar nearby. Yu Garden is a typical Chinese-style classical garden, characterized by traditional pavilions, zigzag bridges, ponds and rockeries. While at Yuyuan Bazaar, perhaps you will want to browse for souvenirs and taste local snacks.

Next, an a la carte farewell lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) is prepared for you to try Shanghai specialties at a locally famous restaurant. We highly recommend you try Scallion Oil Noodles, which looks plain but actually involves quite a skill. Apart from scallion oil and noodles suggested in the dish’s name, you also need soy sauce to blend with them harmoniously. Absorb the sauce into the oil, apply the potion to springy noodles, and now you have an oily-smooth (yet not sticky), scallion-flavored noodle dish.

After lunch, take an elevator to Duo Yun Bookstore on the 52nd floor of Shanghai Tower, and sits by the window wall to overlook Shanghai’s cityscape. Next, follow our guide to one of the most famous tour destinations in Shanghai - the Bund, which lies next to the Huangpu River. In addition, a Huangpu River cruise is arranged for you.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte farewell lunch
Day 9 Shanghai - Mumbai
Please check out before 12:00, and head for the airport in our recommended ways; a pleasant journey home! (B)
Your holiday comes to a happy ending today. After a pleasant breakfast at the hotel, you will leave for Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and embark on an 11-hour journey to Mumbai by yourself. It is suggested you take a taxi to the airport, which would cost about CNY 200 and take around 1.5 hours. There is no direct flight back to Mumbai from Shanghai, so we suggest you make a connection in Hong Kong; you can make your flight plan by consulting real-time flight trackers or your travel consultant.

We wish you a happy and enjoyable journey home!
