This tour was an absolutely incredible deep dive into China's history and left me in awe of the Terracotta Army.

Our guide, Lily, was exceptional; her passion for the history made every explanation fascinating and easy to understand. She navigated the sites with perfect efficiency, ensuring we saw all the highlights without feeling rushed. The small group size made the experience intimate and allowed for plenty of personal questions.

Very scenic area and our guide Roger, is very knowledgeable and informative. Roger is also very accommodating and flexible since he only had to manage one small group of us.

It was not very crowded and the weather was nice when we visited.

The driver picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel so we didn't have to worry about transportation or go to a meeting point, which was convenient.

Our guide, Helen, was experienced and knowledgeable, warm and friendly, and goes out of her way to make the short 3+ hour absolutely packed with interesting things + bringing us through the absolute essentials of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. For the amount paid, this is definitely worth it - much better than any AI generated itinerary.

Speaks fluent English, code switches between Chinese and English if she knows you understand. Knows where the crowds are, and brings you through the tour-guide-only shortcuts, allowing us to skip through majority of the queue and avoid the dangerous icy slippery areas, and helped us take awesome photos as well! Warm and friendly, our "Helen's family" had a great time :)

I booked this tour primarily to see the Terracotta Warriors because I realised that travel from the City Centre was not straightforward as the site is 25 miles away , and also because the large crowds might be bewildering when buying tickets and knowing where to go.

An additional bonus was that not only only did we visit the Terracotta Warriors in the morning, but we also visited other intriguing and historic sites in the City Centre in the afternoon.

I was the first to be picked up by the mini-bus from my hotel ( early start ! ) and was greeted by Carol Chen our English-speaking tour guide - she was very friendly and chatty, and helped me practise my ( limited ) Mandarin.

She gave us lots of tips, including about the elbow-shoving to view the warriors! Everything was extremely well-organised, and although it was a long but enjoyable day, it was actually my one day off because all I had to do was to " follow the flag " ! Even the meal was organised as well as souvenir shopping. Drop-off was not very far at all from the hotel.

If I had organised this trip myself, I doubt if I would have saved much - if any - money, but I was freed from the burden of navigating confusing websites and bus networks - there is no direct regular public transport to the site, so travelling by mini-bus was ideal and our driver drove safely and sensibly.

So, to summarise , TravelChinaGuide is not only an ideal company to use for tours such as this, but also can book rail tickets and handle all other aspects of getting around a vast country which can be very confusing for non-Chinese speakers.

It was a long day, too, for Carol, but she handled it all brilliantly and I have no hesitation in recommending her services.

The 14-day tour of China was the best holiday and experience I have had in my life. The organisation from Travel China Guide was first class. The hotels were five star and excellent, all of the tour guides were very interesting and went the extra mile to help our tour group, and the tour locations were superb. I like to give Emily Xin, our TCG Travel Consultant, a 5 star rating on the stellar planning and organizing of our 26 days customized private China Tour for 16 people. She provided an itinerary base on our interest and dates. We were able to revise the itinerary almost up to before our travel. Our itinerary was complicated by different tour options for different people in the group and varied arrival and departure dates and times. Emily was able to coordinate all the variation flawlessly.
Emily kept in touch with us throughout the trip through Wechat to make sure all was going well. When someone left his cellphone on the tourbus on the way to the airport, we were able to contact her and she immediately contacted the bus driver and return the phone. Our 26 day trip to Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Yangze Cruise, Zhangjiajie, Fenghuang, Guangzhou, Guilin and Shanghai was amazing and made more memorable by all the phenomenal tour guides at each city. Our 2-day tour of Chengdu with Bella was the highlight our China trip. Her perfect English, deep cultural knowledge, and thoughtful service made the trip comfortable and memorable.
The morning visit to the Panda Base was the absolute highlight. By arriving at opening, she secured the best spots to witness the heartwarming sight of a mother panda bonding with her cubs. We also saw other pandas including red pandas.
On the boat cruise to see the Leshan Giant Buddha, Bella ensured we had the prime viewing position.
From the lively Jinli Street to the serene Wenshu Monastery, Bella’s insights were invaluable. She shared her extensive knowledge of Buddhism, which was especially meaningful for the Buddhist member of our group.

My wife and I recently undertook a trip to China which saw us visit the cities of Guangzhou, Guilin, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Shanghai. Every city in China has its unique attractions and, no doubt, the feature which made Guilin stand out was its limestone hills/ mountains. It is easy to see why people rate Guilin as the most beautiful place in China. Of course, the 4 hour cruise down the Li River is a must and an experience not to be missed or forgotten. Another outstanding "feature" of our time in Guilin was our tour guide, Oscar Lu. He was not only knowledgeable about the place but he also made his narratives so interesting. Above all, he was always sensitive and attentive to our needs and always looked at things from our perspective. When it was time for our train trip to Chongqing, he gave us a map of the station in Chongqing so that we would know exactly where to go when we got there. He even gave us the name and contact number of the person who was meeting us. Having missed our guide at another station, we greatly appreciated this thoughtful gesture on Oscar's part. We joined the small group tour to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Mutianyu Great Wall, and it was truly one of the best experiences of our Beijing trip!

Our guide Helen was amazing, she is very nice, friendly, and patient, and she always made sure everyone in the group was comfortable. She shared many interesting stories and historical details, which made each place come alive. Her explanations were clear and engaging, and she also helped us take many beautiful photos!

The tour was well-organized, timing was perfect, and the Great Wall section at Mutianyu was absolutely stunning. We enjoyed every moment of this trip.

Helen is simply the gold standard of tour guides in Beijing. If I could give her 10 stars, I would.

She and her colleague driver arrived at our hotel exactly on time on a freezing Beijing morning.

She had already purchased all entrance tickets in advance (Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Mutianyu Great Wall), which saved us hours of queuing in the cold. Her knowledge is incredibly yet never overwhelming, as she shared historical details, insider photography spots, the best routes to take, and even gave us options for how we wanted our Great Wall climb to be.

The vehicle was spotless with plenty of legroom, comfortable seats, and great heating when it was –°C outside. Bottled water and a lively snack were provided throughout the day.

Zero forced shopping stops, and for lunch near the Great Wall, she simply shared several excellent options, then let us choose exactly what we wanted.

We left Beijing feeling we had not only seen the must-see sights, but truly understood and appreciated them, thanks to Helen's passion and expertise.

I have been for a long time entertaining the idea of visiting China . Came to Xi’an ( as probably most people) with the ideia of getting to know the terracota soldiers site . We stayed 3 nights in this wonderful area. 2 nights at the Shangri La (superb) in Guilin and one night in Yangshuo. We did the Li river cruise, the night spectacular (rivals Fantastmic), bamboo river rafting, biking through rice fields, tasting fruit, climbing 500 steps up a mountain for gorgeous views, an evening lake cruise downtown Guilin, tea tasting and much more. What a treat. Our guide Samantha was the best part of this leg of our trip!

His explanations of the Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Lama Temple, and the Hutongs were clear, engaging, and filled with fascinating insights.

My boyfriend and I went to China on our private tour for 14 days. We found November to be a perfect time, with cool but clear days and very little crowds at most attractions. As our tour was private, we had an assigned travel agent who could help us make specific changes to the itinerary.

Ms Emily Xin was our tour agent and she was amazing. From when we first reached out to when we were on the tour, she was quick to respond to any of our queries or changes we requested be made to our trip. She also gave us consistent updates on the booking process of the trip. When we requested to change the round trip cable car at the Great to a chair list up and toboggan slide down Ms Xin immediately made the change. The week before we left, Ms Xin once again reached out to provide us our full itinerary in a printable document which also included all contacts for our guides.

We had four guides over our trip, one for each city. In Beijing Selina was our guide. Selina was one of our favourite guides, perfectly balancing giving information while letting us enjoy the attractions. She had lot of historical and cultural knowledge on all sites we visited. She also gave us good recommendations for places to eat. When we first arrived, Selina helped us set up a metro pass in Alipay. This fundamentally changed our trip allowing us to easily navigate the train system with ease. While we likely would have eventually worked it out on our own, Selina's quick intervention meant we were able to enjoy Beijing to its fullest.

Our second guide was Roger who showed us around Xi'an. Roger had an incredible amount of knowledge. He was able to answer every question we had and provide us with information that we wouldn't have ever thought to ask. At times the onslaught of information could feel a bit exhausting and more like a university lecture than a tour group. However, I imagine that in a bigger group this would not pose as much of an issue.

Jason (or LJ as we called him) was our guide in Zhangjiajie. He was also one of our favourites, being absolutely amazing from start to finish. At every attraction he expertly navigated what little crowds there were and made sure to show us attractions of the beaten path. He even organised for us to visit the Huanglong Cave when we spontaneously decided to add it to our itinerary, going so far as to hand draw us a map. Zhangjiajie was spectacular, and we would highly recommend LJ as a guide for any person going there.

Ryan was our guide in Shanghai. He had very good knowledge of the history of Shanghai which we found incredibly interesting. He also timed all our stops on the tour very well giving us enough time to first hear the information and then enjoy the stop by ourselves.

Overall, this was a fantastic holiday. All our hotels were in excellent locations and had comfortable rooms. The breakfast buffets did cater towards Chinese guests more than the western diet, however there are options that most would enjoy. Choosing to travel with this company was definitely the best decision. Every detail was managed for us. Ms Xin and all the guides were so helpful and attentive towards us, and it truly made for a magical holiday. Would absolutely recommend this tour and the company to anyone looking to enjoy China.

This is the second time I used Travel China Guide for my 17-day Yunnan tour starting from Chongqing, Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangri-la. Kina was my contact, she was always there and very attentive to my needs and requirements. From train/flight tickets to hotel arrangements, she organized them impeccably, keeping me well updated. The different guides and drivers all along the various stopovers (especially driver Yang who accompanied me all the way from Dali, Lijiang to Shangri-la) are polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Believe me, it's a memorable experience and I will not hesitate to use their services again.

Had a fabulous day on this tour. Super easy for solo travelers, guide Lily picked me up at my hotel and we then stopped at two additional hotels. Group size about 10-12 people. Lily had a mic in the vehicle and her English was great. She was an excellent tour guide, offering lots of great information about Xi'an and Chinese history. We stopped first at the Terracotta Warriors, which was incredible. Prepare for massive crowds, although on our day it was very manageable and we could get next to the rail. Stopped at multiple pits, then went to a great lunch. After lunch we saw the Goose Pagoda, absolutely great gardens and peaceful. We then went to the city wall for great views. Finally we ended at the Muslim Quarter. This was a long day but we'll worth it and I had a wonderful time with Lily and the group! Would do again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of some of Beijing's key landmarks today. Starting at 8am allowed us to beat the crowds and have a peaceful visit to the serene Temple of Heaven. Our knowledgeable guide, Helen, provided excellent historical context that enhanced our understanding of this iconic site.

The next stop at the Summer Palace was a highlight. We were glad we opted for the longer walking route through the stunning Long Gallery, which Helen guided us through expertly, bringing the palace's history to life.

Exploring the charming Hutong neighborhood by rickshaw was a wonderful was both informative and engaging.

Throughout the day, Helen's passion for sharing Beijing's rich cultural heritage was evident. Her warm and personable guiding style ensured we felt welcome and comfortable. We can wholeheartedly recommend this private tour as a wonderful way to see the tour’s sights with an exceptional guide.

Our Tour Guide Liz was the Best She’s Professional, knowledgeable, funny and very helpful . she went above and beyond she showed us everything we need to see and experience.

An Unforgettable Experience in China!

Our trip to Tianmen Mountain, Yungjiajie Glass Bridge, 72 Wonders, and Zhangjiajie Rain Forest was absolutely breathtaking, and a huge part of that magic was thanks to our amazing tour guide. Liz was incredibly sweet, patient, and knowledgeable, and you could truly feel how much she loves sharing the beauty and history of her country.

From navigating the glass bridge to explaining the stories behind the Avatar Mountains, she knew every detail, every shortcut, and every perfect photo spot. She made us feel safe, welcomed, and genuinely cared for the entire time.
