"We returned with wonderful memories from Vietnam. The three guides (Andy, Shang and Harry) were great. They spoke good English, answered all of our questions and were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The places that we visited were all very interesting, involving a lot of walking in 35oC temperature with 80% humidity, but that's part of the fun.... We liked a lot the cruise in Ha Long Bay, the Pagoda in Hue, the Old Town in Hoi An and the floating market in the Mekong Delta. All hotels were fantastic but the May De Ville in Hanoi was a bit cramped. The best ones were the Indochina Palace in Hue and the La Siesta in Hoi An. Your support during the booking process was very good. You always answered our questions promptly and in a clear way. This was our second tour with you and we'll definitely use your services again whenever appropriate."

We were so positive about their trip, everything was perfect. We traveled with grandma, daughter and two little children. They really enjoyed the time in Disney. The Public transport was very good, also the guides were helping very good. Our luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto was all good – we only had a small package to Hakone, thanks for mentioning this. It was not too busy traveling in this period (we thought this before, because traveling during Golden Week) Before booking we was a little bit nerves and we want everything perfect. During this tour we were so happy and thankful, for sure that we really had a good time in Japan. So i hope spread this experience to other people!

Have been delayed in responding as it has been very busy and a bit stressful since we have returned. But the tour was so good that we eventually knew that we would find the time to respond. Our trip was unusual as I ended up taking a big fall in Thimphu on the first day in Bhutan. Our guide and driver were the best you could possibly have under the circumstances. I was brought to the emergency room of the largest hospital in Bhutan and was given such excellent care that our trip continued the next day as planned. Our guide Ram and our driver Poob were the absolute best. We did not know how to properly thank them so we took your recommended gratuity and doubled it. Because of my fall, they recommended that I not attempt Tigers Nest (but my wife did go). They arranged for me to rent a helicopter (one of only two in Bhutan available at the time) and we saw Tigers Nest up close from the air. in short, this was the second outstanding tour from Travel China Guide Tours and you definitely be used again on our planned revisit to China as well as other destinations in Asia. My husband and I wanted to visit Cambodia for quite some time. When I was planning our trip, I knew that a visit to the historic Angkor Wat temples was definitely on our list, but I wasn’t sure about what else to visit in Cambodia. Mrs Wendy Lee did a really nice job helping us to plan our trip. We had a few conversations with her to describe what we were interested in doing/seeing and she came up with a suggested itinerary and made all the arrangements. From the moment I first contacted her, 6 months prior our trip to the conclusion of it, she always replied quickly via email. The price she quoted us was great, better than the prices of other companies I had also contacted. Cambodia is an amazing place with so much to see. During our 14-day tour we visit Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampot and Koh Rong Island. The country is incredibly rich in culture and natural beauty. Every place we visited had something unique and special that made it stand out. Cambodian people are incredibly kind, gentle and their hospitality is superb. From beginning to end, everything was perfect and there were no mishaps. The hotels were really good, the service outstanding and the guides and drivers knowledgeable, caring and concerned for our safety. Of the wonderful places in Cambodia, Siem Reap temples were the most amazing experience made only better by our guide, Mr Heng Sourchanrith. He was brilliant in ensuring that we not only saw a range of sites, but we also had a lot of background information, giving us detailed explanations about the places, the historical context, the art and meaning of the symbols and writings that cover the walls and piles of the temples. Also explain to us many legends about the places we visited and the people who lived there in those times and about the live and the culture of the in Cambodia in nowadays. I also must note he was particularly good with the timing of our visits to the busier places, which avoided most of the crowds. Thank you for an amazing trip. We have no hesitation in recommending this company. If we return to Southeast Asia, we will book through them again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time in Turkey and Greece! Emily was wonderful planning the trip and adjusting things to make it just like we wanted it. We had private tour guides and drivers the entire trip and every one of the guides and drivers were amazing! The meals and accommodations were great! We especially loved Cappadocia - the magical balloon ride, the other-wordly geological shapes and historical dwellings within them! It was spectacular! We highly recommend this agency and thank them for their care of us and our trip!

"John’s English is excellent. His fluency in English made it easy for us to discuss any topic, to understand what we were seeing, as well as local customs and current affairs in the country. John’s extensive experience as a guide was evident in his choice of park guides, accommodation and recommendations for local activities and restaurants. In the parks, he helped to spot animals and added to the information provided by the park guides. Even our long days driving went by easily because of our fun conversations with him. We were initially worried about our visit to a local community because we thought we might not be welcome. We have enjoyed our 12 days in Vietnam very much.
As we have previously used the company to travel in China, and loved it, we have decided to use it for our Vietnam travel as well.
And we were right.
We have created flexible journey, combining defined route with our additional stops.
The company was flexible to allow us to do additions and changes (i.e. our own booking for longer times, additional concerts and events to explore current culture and much more). Our travel agent Emily was responsive and has answered all of our numerous questions (as it was our first time in Vietnam, so we had many questions and clarifications).
We had three tour guides in Hanoi, Hoi An and Saigon (Toan, Dong and Harry) – all very different and delightful! All of them were knowledgeable, with good English, accommodating and suggesting and showing more “local stuff”.
All times we were met on time, greeted and shown around without any delays. Organisation had been awesome and very diligent.
Our accommodation (we selected 5 stars) was very good, especially on Halong Bay and in Saigon (also known as HMC).
We have seen this beautiful country and enjoyed every place and day. We say some of North, Centre and South, with our favourite being Hoi An (for cultural and historical experience).
We have learnt a lot, navigated traffic (yes, it was an adrenalin exercise!), cafes, markets, local places, museums, concerts and more.
We can certainly recommend the company and organisation, flexibility and delivery to everyone, and are thinking about more travel with them.

All guides except one were exceptional. The other was good. The guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and flexible. Having drivers really facilitates the trip. Having personal guides and drivers for just the two of us is the way to travel. Agate Travel kept up with what was always happening. The hotels were nice. All the people that we met were very friendly and welcoming. My wife is legally blind and has limited mobility. I must eat gluten free and dairy free. Options were always available for us. The only problem with the trip is that it was supposed to be dry season, but it rained all but two days. We had rain gear and were able to keep going. Based upon our experience we recommend Agate Travel trips. Five stars.

I was impressed with the communications and response, the flexibility, the activities, the guides, the accommodation and the speed and order of the tour.

We recently took a 12 day trip to Japan which was totally planned for us by Agate Travel and Wendy Lee at this travel agency. There were 5 of us in my family. We corresponded exclusively by email. I was introduced to her and Agate by a friend who also went to Japan in September of 2023 and has since taken another trip planned by Agate and Wendy Lee. Our Japan trip was absolutely excellent!!! Every single detail that was given to us took place without a single problem. The guides that were selected for us were superb! and such nice, caring, and thoughtful people. They were always there to greet us at the train stations and ready for us in the hotel lobbies each morning for the day's excursion. We saw many amazing and absolutely beautiful sights with good explanations of what we were seeing. In addition, we experienced a nice variety of events- a wonderful dinner with a Maiko in Kyoto, a river boat trip, a visit to the Nara deer park with wild/tame deer, and amazing botanical sights (which was very important to us) including Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa and also visited the incredible Bamboo Forest in Kyoto. Visiting Hiroshima was very important and our guide was outstanding in bringing understanding of what happened there in 1945 so that we could more fully appreciate the impact and the importance of never forgetting and therefore never repeating this tragic event in human history. In addition, we were able to do some very nice shopping in a variety of shopping streets and also in Takayama, which we especially enjoyed and wished we could have had another day there. Every detail of our transportation on the bullet trains, local trains, buses was planned to perfection. Hotels were all ready and waiting for us. We had a special train/bus pass provided by Agate and it was invaluable in making transportation very easy! I don't know how we could have had a better first trip to Japan. I am very impressed with Agate Travel and Wendy Lee. She answered all of my questions promptly! (usually within 24 hours) and gave me clear directions, both during our planning, right before departure, and in a packet when we arrived at our first hotel. She even seemed intuitive as to the reasoning behind my questions and took her answers a step further to give me additional information that was very helpful and appreciated. We loved our trip to Japan, had such a happy time experiencing it together as a family, and were very grateful to be in such competent and organized hands. I would highly recommend this travel agency and Wendy Lee. I will definitely use them again for future trips.

I had an excellent 4 day visit to Vietnam expertly arranged by Emily of Agate Travel. I went to Hoi An and ended up with excellent shirts, leather purses and pouches made for me in my one day! I also did the enchanting night boat ride. Then it was on to Hanoi where I spent one night before I was driven to Halong Bay for a magical one night cruise. When my wonderful guide, Mr. Thahn, picked me up and then we toured some before my last day day of intensive touring. A highlight was the unique Train street and of course the lake. Be prepared for crazy motorcycle traffic, but everything was great and I hope to come to Vietnam again some day. If so I would love to plan it through Agate Travel with Emily and have Mr. Thahn guide us again!

We traveled to India for 15 days on a customized private tour, and it was amazing! We visited Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Kochi, Goa and Mumbai, and we enjoyed the tour so much. The hotels were all excellent with great breakfast buffets, the local guides and drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was amazing everywhere we taken for lunch. We had an amazing family vacation thanks to Emily and AgateTravel. We had previously used Agate for Vacation to Rio and Buenos Aires and had a great trip. We were very excited to book a vacation to Thailand and it was PERFECT. Emily and Agate Travel were very responsible, professional and highly skilled. They planned a perfect trip with every detail covered. From transport, to lodging, to dining, tour guides, and overall itinerary everything was flawless. We got an incredible taste of Thailand, felt safe and protected at all times, and had excellent guides throughout. They were very organized. We toured Kerala, including Kochin, Munnar, Periyar, the backwaters and various stops in between. The tour was very well organised with lovely hotels, boat stay and excellent tour guides. I want to give special mention to our driver Mr Rajeev who went beyond his duties to make our time memorable and keep us safe, comfortable and informed. Of course he was an excellent driver and always on time.
Being met at the airport and helped through the complicated process when we left was much appreciated.

The trip, arranged by Emily and AgateTravel was excellent, to the extent that I would highly recommend it to my friends and colleagues. The admissions were all reasonable and even cheap for someone from a US dollar currency area. If I had more time, I would have done a longer tour but I was under a time constraint. The weather was great and the atmosphere was excellent despite being the "high" tourist season. The crowd size was perfect (no congestion) and the staff, my tour guide and the driver were the best one can expect on overseas tours. His English was very good and we shared interests since I am also from a tropical region. We keep in touch and correspond electronically even following my return home from the excursion.

Bhutan is a very beautiful country with a lot of history and very nice people. It is place to take a moment intake to relax and re-evaluate life and recharge. I wouldn't mind going back there and explore what they have to offer. its a very peaceful and true it is is a happy place to be at.

Bhutan experience must never to be missed in one’s bucket list. The air is clean, the road is scenic and the majestic mountains are as Beaty to reckon with. The temples are centuries old but kept their promises of visits worth. The hike to Tigers Nest is memories of a lifetime and a boast to completion to friends and families. The walk of the suspension bridge was an exciting activity that would etched in my mind. Thank you to Emily and Agate travel for the wonderful trip.

We expanded the itinerary 9-day private safari to 11 days to include an extra day at the beach in Morondava and a day-trip to the Andranomandraotra geyser, Lily waterfall and Lake Itasy at Ampefy. Wendy at Agate Travel was efficient and effective at designing and revising our itinerary and communication with her was quick and thorough. The accomodations were wonderful and the local guides were excellent, especially Kris in the Andasibe area parks and Luru (sp?) at the sacred King’s Palace on the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga. Our driver-guide Valentin was so very helpful, accomodating, friendly and great at sharing his wonderful country and its bumpy roads with us. Our local guide Tousaint at Tsingy National Park saved my life when I fell while hiking through those dramatic and treacherous rocky peaks. What a country: gorgeous scenery, fabulous animal and plant life, friendly folks. Take it “mora-mora” (“slowly-slowly”) and you might love it, too.
