We had an outstanding experience with our tour guide, Lily Cao, during the Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo.
The tour was very interesting and well organized. Lily did an exceptional job. Her English is excellent, everything was easy to understand, and she explains in a very engaging and enjoyable way. It was always a pleasure to listen to her.
She truly brought the destinations to life with her knowledge, energy, and professionalism. We highly recommend her to anyone visiting the region.

Highly recommended tour
We booked directly with the tour operator for the Beijing and Xi’an portion of this tour. This is our first time touring China. We wanted the help of good guides who knew the ropes to make our trip more enjoyable. Kevin was our tour guide in Beijing. He was knowledgeable and organized. We really enjoyed the acrobatic show at the Red Theater and the Mutianyu Great Wall. The tour included a high speed train from Beijing to Xi’an. Kevin escorted us to the train where we also met Celine, our tour guide for Xi’an. She quickly learned all our names and was excellent at providing colorful commentary of the sites and its related history. We learned so much from her. She navigated us through the Terracotta Army Museum like a pro and worked very hard to ensure everyone enjoyed the tour of Xi’an.

Great comprehensive tour
We had a great experience on our tour! Our guide Lily was very kind and informative and spoke perfect English. She explained everything very thoroughly and was great navigating the crowds. The tour included everything we would need to make the most our our visit to Xi'an as a family. We were able to see the terra cotta warriors, have lunch, see the wild goose pagoda and the city walls. There was no wasted time on sales presentations either. The small group size was great to allow personalized attention. I would definitely recommend.

A Perfect Day in Beijing: History, Heart, and Great Hospitality
If you are looking for a seamless, stress-free way to see the best of Beijing, look no further! I booked this full-day tour for myself and my elderly mother, and it was hands-down the highlight of our trip.
The Itinerary
• The Forbidden City: Navigating this massive complex can be overwhelming, but the pace was perfect. We learned so much about the imperial history without feeling rushed, which was a big concern of mine traveling with my mum.
• Traditional Tea Ceremony: This was such a lovely, serene break. It wasn’t just about the tea; it was a beautiful cultural immersion. My mother particularly enjoyed the storytelling and the calming atmosphere after a morning of walking.
• The Great Wall: Standing atop the wall was a "bucket list" moment. The logistics were handled perfectly, making one of the world’s most daunting landmarks feel very accessible.
Our Guide: Jenny
The real star of the day was our guide, Jenny. I cannot recommend her enough!
• Kind & Patient: She was incredibly attentive to my mother’s needs, ensuring we found the most comfortable paths and spots to rest.
• Knowledgeable & Fun: Jenny has a gift for making history come alive with humor and great energy. She felt more like a friend showing us around her city than a formal guide.
• Seamless Logistics: From transport to tickets, everything was handled with total professionalism.
Final Verdict
Whether you are a solo traveler or traveling with family (even elderly parents), this tour is worth every penny. It takes all the stress out of navigating Beijing and replaces it with wonderful memories.
Tip: Ask for Jenny if you can—she truly made our day unforgettable!

Perfect Chengdu Day with Pandas, Culture, and Tea
We had an amazing Private Chengdu Day Tour with our wonderful guide, Bella! She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We started the day visiting the adorable Giant Pandas — definitely the highlight of the trip! Then we explored the fascinating Jinsha Site Museum and learned so much about Chengdu’s history. Bella also took us to the peaceful People’s Park, where we tasted authentic local tea and soaked in the relaxed atmosphere. Finally, we walked through the lively KuanZhai Alley, full of local snacks and culture. Every part of the day was perfectly organized — thank you, Bella, for making our Chengdu visit unforgettable!

Unforgettable Xi’an Experience with a Great Guide - Rita
Rita made our visit to Xi’an truly unforgettable, and we would wholeheartedly award this tour a well-deserved five stars. Traveling as a group of three, we were impressed by how seamlessly everything was organized—from the punctual hotel pickup to the perfectly timed visits at each attraction.
Rita guided us through the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Terracotta Warriors with clear, insightful explanations and fascinating historical context, allowing us to appreciate the significance of each site. One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on workshop where we crafted our own terracotta warrior souvenirs, a creative and memorable experience that added a special personal touch to the tour.
In addition to the major landmarks, Rita also led us through Xi’an’s vibrant Muslim District, where we sampled delicious local street food and soaked in the lively atmosphere, and along the ancient City Wall, offering spectacular views of the city. Her warm personality, patience, and deep knowledge of Xi’an’s history and culture made the entire experience exceptional. Thanks to Rita, we came away with not only amazing memories but also a genuine appreciation for the beauty and heritage of this remarkable city.

Wonderful highlight tour of Beijing
I’ve just had the most wonderful tour of Beijing and the Great Wall with Helen as our guide. She explains everything in such and entertaining and informative way! She knows exactly how to speed up the process rather than take forever waiting in line as the screening process for Tiananmen and the Forbidden City could be tedious. She knows all the short cuts and all the areas to explore to get the best photos! She also gives excellent advice to get the most out of the Great Wall. I highly recommend this excellent tour with Helen as the guide, you’ll never regret it!

Gorgeous Mt. Huashan
Our day started with a punctual pickup by our guide, Roger, at our hotel. Our relaxing drive to Mt. Huashan was also very informative, with Roger providing us with excellent background information regarding this sacred mountain. He did a great job arranging all the tickets for the cable car rides and was a wonderful companion to hike with across the various peaks of Mt. Huashan. The hike was not terribly strenuous, but there are enough steep inclines and descents that may make unsteady knees quiver. Roger stayed with us at all times and was always a joyful and enthusiastic presence. After the hike, he guided us to a fabulous noodle street-food place not far from our hotel. What a great day; I highly recommend this tour!

A Great Overview of Xi’an
My friend and I only had one day in Xi’an to experience as much as we could. This tour was very informative and we got to see all the highlights! Carol was an excellent guide and very responsive to guest questions and requests. The size of the group allowed for her to take time to talk with everyone on the trip and she was considerate of everyone. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the Terracotta Warriors as well as highlights in the city.

Carol is best guide in China
Best tour guide we had the whole time we were in China! Carol was sweet, punctual, knowledgeable, helpful and very accommodating. The tour was exactly as expected (which hasn’t happened yet on a tour we’ve booked). All entries were covered so there was no additional cost unless we wanted to purchase things. The group size was perfect and the headsets worked great so that we could hear clearly even in the busy areas. We had ample time at each stop, detailed information, good recommendations and 5 star driver (Mr Li) to get us between all the places.
We all left with more knowledge than we started with, a full belly and a smile on our face. As this was great for all ages, we hope to book another tour and hope Carol is our guide.

Xi'an for 3 days
We had a very good experience during our 3-day tour in Xi’an, thanks to your guide and driver. Our guide, Roger, was knowledgeable, friendly, and brought the history of the city to life in a very engaging way. Despite not feeling well during those days, he still made a great effort to ensure we had the best possible experience, which we truly appreciated.
The driver was equally excellent. Professional, punctual, and ensured all transfers were smooth and stress-free. The car was always clean and comfortable. Together, they made our visit seamless and memorable. We would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Xi’an.

Outstanding tour, outstanding flexibility!
We absolutely loved today’s tour with Tracy our tour guide. We had signed up for the tour as late as the afternoon the day prior, knowing we might have an issue with the late registration. The TravelChinaGuide team flexed so quickly this morning, they paid for our taxi to the last hotel as all guests were being picked up from their hotels and we met the bus right on time. We were so impressed with their professionalism and honesty … I would recommend them over others just for how they handled us.
Then we met Tracy who was an excellent tour guide with 22 years of experience. She knew all the techniques to maximize our ability to see and take pictures throughout the day; especially the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibits. Her English is outstanding and we learned an immense amount of Chinese history through her insight. Keep your fingers crossed you will have Tracy as your guide when you book this tour … a tour you don’t want to miss!!

Daniel: a guide who truly makes the difference
The mini group tour to the Glass Bridge and Tianmen Mountain was one of the most memorable moments of our trip to China, and much of the credit goes to Daniel.
His ability to explain the area, lead the group naturally, and create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere made the whole day smooth and engaging.
Daniel has a rare artistic eye: he knows exactly where to take the best photos and videos, and he captures the essence of each place in a surprising way. Thanks to him, we experienced Tianmen Mountain not just as a visit, but as a complete and meaningful journey.

Shanghai with Ryan
We had the best experience exploring Shanghai thanks to our amazing tour guide, Ryan. From the moment we started, Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire day feel effortless and fun.
As we visited places like Yu Garden and walked along The Bund, Ryan didn’t just guide us—he brought each location to life with stories, history, and little details we would have completely missed on our own.
Our day exploring Shanghai was the perfect mix of history, culture, and modern city vibes. We started at the historic Former HSBC Building, which gave us a glimpse into Shanghai’s colonial past. Walking along The Bund was definitely a highlight—the skyline views across the river are unreal and such a cool contrast between old and new Shanghai.
Next, we went to the Yu Garden, which honestly felt like stepping into another world. The traditional architecture, koi ponds, and peaceful pathways made it one of the most beautiful spots we visited. Right outside, we wandered through the lively Yuyuan Bazaar—super vibrant with tons of local snacks, souvenirs, and energy everywhere.
We also stopped by the Shanghai History Museum, which helped bring everything together and gave us a deeper understanding of how the city evolved over time.
To wrap up the day, we shopped and ate at Yuyuan Garden Shopping Mall—the perfect place to grab souvenirs and try some local food. Overall, it was such a fun and well-rounded day, with a great balance of sightseeing, shopping, and experiencing the culture.

Terracotta Army up close and brought to life
We have just got back from our visit to the Terracotta Army and have had a fantastic time. We have seen the warriors on television but to see them up close and in their natural home is an experience we will never forget. Rita was an excellent guide explaining things to us before we went into each pit and then giving us time to look at our leisure. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone thinking of visiting Xi’an and the Terracotta Army

Well-paced private tour for multi-gen family
Lola our English-Mandarin bilingual guide and our Chinese-speaking guide led our multi-gen family group on a full-day tour of the terracotta warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim street. For travellers with better mobility you might be able to squeeze in the city walls on the same day but for us, we took our time so our older family members could move along at a more leisurely pace. Lola also facilitated our hotel to bullet train station transfers the following day and on our return to Xian from Luoyang on the bullet train.

An Unforgettable Journey into History – Ask for Carol!
Our trip to the Terracotta Warriors was the absolute highlight of our time in Xi'an, and that is largely thanks to our incredible guide, Carol. From the moment she met us, her energy and passion for history were infectious.
?Carol didn’t just show us the pits; she told us the 'stories' behind the discovery and the craftsmanship that made the experience feel personal. She was incredibly helpful, navigating the crowds so we always had the best views and knowing exactly where to take the best photos. She handled all the logistics seamlessly, leaving us free to just soak in the wonder of the site. If you’re visiting Xi'an, do yourself a favor and request Carol—she is a true professional and a delight to be around!
Carol went beyond her responsibility in helping us securing great seats at a local sold out show.
Thank you, Carol

Great Tour by Helen!
This was one of the best sight seeing tours we’ve done. We got to see so many of the top Beijing sights, including the Great Wall. The weather was perfect, and our guide, Helen, was brilliant throughout. She was very informative yet kept it all very interesting. If you’re in Beijing for a short time, this is a great way to see the city and Great wall in a day.

Beijing in Spring
Beijing is a BIG city with 28 million inhabitants. Kevin, our guide, and our driver was fundamental in guiding through town seamlessly. Based on Kevin's extensive knowledge of Beijing he rearranged our itinerary to reduce our waiting time and maximise our time at the various attractions that we attended. The Great wall, as expected, is a must see when in Beijing together with the Forbidden city, Summer Palace, Tiananmen square and Temple of Heaven. Two and a half days is unfortunately insufficient time to see all that we wanted. I would recommend 4 days at least to visit Beijing.

Chengdu the city of Pandas
Our private tour guide Julie and our driver Mr Yang was excellent. Thanks to Julie's knowledge and expertise we were able to maximise our stay in Chengdu and get to see the pandas ahead of the main crowd. Location of our hotel Grand Hyatt was well located just footstep away from the key shopping area and restaurants. Afternoon tea in the Renmin park was very relaxing and enjoyable seeing live cultural performance while drinking local tea. Returning soon to Chengdu again.

2 for 1 Warriors of China tour review
e took the '2 for 1 Warriors of China' tour leaving May16 2024 back to Sydney May27 2024.
The tour guide in Beijing - Robin and the tour guide in Xuzhou / Hangzhou/ Shanghai - Celery, both did an excellent job. Well done.
Trip overall was good, except the Shaolin temple visit was not worth going for me and the tour guide there needs more training I felt.
The gratitude cost should be clearer, it is actually compulsory because it is also for the driver and the team behind the scene purchasing various tickets and making sure the tour goes smoothly.
You will need to have cash, not many places accept card. May be use Wise or master card to draw cash.
Try to travel with smaller luggages because the train rides in and out with big luggages can be hard. You can place the Small bags on the overhead compartment.
Bring roll on deodorant, one of the train ride security confiscated spray deodorants and opened alcohol.
If you are travelling southern China, sign up with SkyPearl to pre-book seat on line.
All up 7.5/10.
