Day 1 Arrival in Kunming
Welcome to Yunnan! Upon your arrival at Kunming airport, our private tour guide will be waiting for you at the arrival hall by holding a signboard with your name on it. We will also be glad to pick you up from the railway station if you take train to reach Kunming. We will chauffeur you to a nice hotel for a short break, and then your 9 days Yunnan Tibet tour will start with a visit to the Green Lake Park. It is a serene natural oasis perched at the center of the city, and also the most popular place for locals to spend their leisure time. You can take a walk along the tree-lined path to take in the charming lake view, and even meet flocks of migrant red-billed seagulls straying around.

Day 2 Kunming

A morning excursion to the Stone Forest is awaited. As one of the biggest highlights of your Yunnan to Tibet tour itinerary, the Stone Forest is blessed with typical karst landscape that have taken in form about 700 millions of years ago. The whole park is like a grotesque forest made up of numerous clusters of stone pillars, towers and pinnacles jutting up to the sky, and strolling inside is just like throwing yourself into a dreamy world. After that, we will head for Nuohei Village, a dwelling place of ethnic minority of Yi people. Once stepping inside the village, your eyesight would be caught by its primitive beauty from these folk residences, walkways and bridges built with stones. Finally, return to downtown hotel.

Day 3 Kunming - Dali

After breakfast, our guide will see you off at the railway station for a two-hour bullet train ride to Dali. Upon arrival, your new local guide will meet you at the exit of the train station, and then transfer you to a hotel. After leaving your luggage, you will start to sight-see this laid-back Dali Ancient Town from its buzzing Foreigner Street, historic towers as well as lovely shops & cafes. Then you will move to Chongsheng Temple to check out the most symbolic architecture of Dali, the Three Pagodas that could date back to thousands of years ago in Nanzhao Kingdom. Finally, conclude your today's tour with a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride along the amazing Erhai Lake, where you could inhale the idyllic ambience of the city.

Day 4 Dali - Lijiang
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lijiang by a 3-4 hours land journey with awesome scenery along the way. An en-route stop will be made at Xizhou, a centuries-old town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Trails. It is a habitat for ethnic Bai groups, and today you could have a glimpse of the most archaic and quaint Bai-styled folk residence, Yan's Compound. Afterwards, continue your Yunnan to Lhasa trip to the nearby Zhoucheng which is famed as the hometown of Chinese tie-dying. At a local workshop, you can see the most authentic traditional cloth dying techniques. When you arrive at Lijiang, enjoy a leisurely exploration of Lijiang Old Town through the densely lined restaurants, souvenir shops and bars.

In the morning, you will embark on a tour to the Baisha Village that is famous for well-kept mural paintings. After hundreds of years weathering, these paintings are still in good condition, depicting a lot of religious and life scene of Naxi people. Then our guide will lead you to visit a Naxi family where you can enjoy a homemade meal with authentic locals.

In the afternoon, you will proceed to an offbeat attraction, the Former Residence of Rock's Museum. Venturing into the museum, you could trace the living trails of Rock, an explorer of National Geographic who had lived a life in Lijiang for 27 years. Next, you will be transferred to Black Dragon Pool which is regarded as one of the most ideal places to shoot pictures of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and panorama of Lijiang Old Town. Your last stop goes to Dongba Museum where you could discover the evolution of Naxi people’s dwellings and their pictograph culture.

Day 6 Lijiang - Lhasa
Today, you need to get up early to catch a morning flight for your Yunnan to Lhasa trip. We will escort you to the airport and help you with the boarding procedures. After arrival, you will be picked up by a local Tibetan guide and chauffeured to a comfy hotel. No sightseeing is arranged today, as plenty time will be left for you to acclimatize yourself to the high altitude (average elevation of about 3,600 meters above sea level) and thin air of Lhasa. You are not suggested to take a shower in the first two days in case of getting a cold.

Your exploration of holy Tibet is unveiled by a visit to the Tibet Museum. It is a place where you could gain comprehensive insights into the overview of Tibetan history and wonder at the profound Tibetan culture from tremendous relics including Thangka, ceramics, jade wares and Buddhist statues. Afterwards, you will visit one of the three most scared monasteries of Tibet, the Sera Monastery, and watch the famous debating scene. Monks sitting on the ground under shade of trees debating on Buddhist philosophy with an exaggerated postures. Next up, our guide will take you to venture into the treasure garden of Norbulinka. As the summer palace of Dalai Lama, the park features on exquisite Tibetan architecture and rare floras. Meanwhile, you could also encounter local Tibetans enjoying their picnics and leisure time in the park.

After breakfast, you will head for the most important attraction of your Yunnan to Tibet tour itinerary, the Potala Palace. As the symbol of Tibet, Potala towering on the world's rooftop needs a climbing of over 1,000 steps to reach. It is the largest and best-preserved Tibetan palace masterpiece in China, which is also the winder residence for generations of Dalai Lamas.

After lunch, our guide will lead you to the Jokhang Monastery that is widely regarded as the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. Getting out of the temple, you will come to the bustling Barkhor Street to discover the charms of local Tibetan's life from the street shops and restaurants as well as folk residences. Today's exploration concludes with a visit to the only nunnery in Lhasa, a quiet hidden gem buried deep in the bustling street.

Day 9 Departure from Lhasa
Today is the last day of your 9 days Yunnan Tibet tour. If time permits, our guide will seize the morning to take you drop by a Tibetan family for an in-depth understanding of their life, culture and traditions by a short talk.
