My family and I, all six of us, organized a private tour of Beijing and Xian through Travel China Guide in April 2025. The whole trip was well planned and we had two experienced and wonderful tour guides, with Linda in Beijing followed by Roger in Xian. Besides the many stories on the history of china, they were very helpful and patient throughout the whole journey. We all had a memorable time and highly recommend going through them again

Tracy was the perfect guide! Her knowldege about Xi’an and its history combined with her fluent accent made the best experience. She gave us precious information about the Terracotta Army, the big pagoda and the city wall. She also allowed us to have enough time to appreciate each stop. Highly recommend to take this tour and understand more the history of this very ancient city. My friend and I were very satisfied.

We had the pleasure of having Colin and a driver for 2 full days of private touring in Beijing over the busy May Day holiday. He was not only knowledgeable about all the sites we saw but also knew all the tricks to get us to and from the sites with our driver during what was a major holiday. We could have never done these sites on our own and his narration added major color to what we were experiencing. He also took us to a excellent dumpling place (we requested to have great dumplings in a local place) and helped us order which was helpful since we would have ordered way too much. Loved our tour!

We are on our third trip in Asia. Traveling to some places in South Korea, China and Japan. Xi'an brought us here because of its history and we scheduled one day to visit the city and continue going to Beijing. Of course, our special interest was in the terracotta army. The tour met our expectations and more. It began in the terracotta military pits and its museum, continued with the Great Wild Goose Pagoda and ended up on the city walls. We are not still on the Muslim branch walking because we are only standing there. Tracy, our guide, was perfect. Well prepared for our questions, always smiling and coordinating the group perfectly. She was there for as in any moment and offered herself to help even when the tour was already finished. She said, "24 h help available"!

We had a fantastic time exploring Xi’an through Travel China Guide. We spent 2 days with Celine as part of a private tour.
She guided us around the Terracotta Army and other sites across the city. Her English was excellent, and her knowledge of the sites really brought the history to life. Celine also recommended some fantastic local restaurants and took us to some lovely spots for lunch—we felt like we got a true taste of the city. Highly recommend her as a guide if you’re visiting Xi’an! Our driver was also great, the vehicle was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as having bottled water available.

We booked this trip only a few days prior to visiting China. We were greeted and picked up at our hotel and treated so amazingly throughout the day by our wonderful guide, Rocky. He was so knowledgeable, kind, funny and patient. We had the most amazing experience visiting all three places. Rocky is highly recommended. Thank you so much for making dreams a reality.

Given that we only had one full day in Beijing, this was the only trip we booked and we made the right choice. Our guide Mary was amazing - she ensured we had a great time and kept us entertained with stories of Chinese culture and history. Would totally recommend this trip to anyone, even if you have limited time to spend in the city

Had the BEST time with our guide, Carol in Xi’an. From the time we stepped off the plane, visited the Terracotta Army Museum, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall, the Muslim Quarter, and the Hanyangling (Tomb of Emperor Jingdi) — Carol was a wealth of information. Learned a lot from her. She even gave us tips for how to deal with the enormous crowds at the Terracotta Army Museum. We also got to see the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show one evening. One of the guys in our group had a birthday. She arranged for the performers in full costume to present him with a cake and sing to him! We were a group of 16, plus a 9-month-old. We absolutely loved Carol. When it was time to move on to Beijing, she took us to the high speed railway station, got our tickets and walked us through security and to the correct gate we needed to board. She took all of our worries away. If you get the opportunity to take this tour, ask for Carol. She’s the BEST!!

A truly wonderful trip, from start to finish the organisation assisted by Emily Xin was some of the best we have experienced, nothing was too much trouble and Emily was on hand night and day to answer any questions. Pick up from the airports was also very smooth and all the guides were super friendly and knowledgable shout out to Kitty (Beijing) and Celine (Xi'an) who were both warm and made everyone feel welcome from the first day. Celine knowledge especially about the Terracotta Warriors was fantastic, she was so organised and a great guide.

We would recommend this company to anyone looking for a trip to China, they really think of everything.

It was one of our most wonderful vacations. It began with the planning, during which we were able to take advantage of the support of the tour operator. The tour left nothing to be desired. Our tour guides in Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu and Shanghai with their extensive knowledge, were able to provide us with many details we would never have known otherwise. The selection of hotels was also excellent, and the transportation between the cities was well organized. We were never left alone and always felt safe. Many thanks again to all the staff at Travel China Guide, especially Kitty, Celine, Connie, David, and Emily Xin.

We booked the half-day mini group tour to the Terracotta Warriors museum on 1st of May and the experience is totally worth it. Our guide - Tracy, walked us through the history and specifics not only of the Terracotta Warriors Museum but of Xi'an, too. She and the driver picked us up from the hotel and we headed to the Museum which is located outside the city. Tracy managed to get us though the lines and despite visiting the Museum on a national holiday when many visitors are expected, thanks to her, we almost didn't feel the people pressure.
My overall rating is 10/10 and I'd recommend booking this tour. My only regret is I didn't book the full day tour as it includes other significant sightseeings.

Great tour option! Really small group which is nice and the tour guide, Celine explained everything well and was very helpful and friendly. The cost is really good as well.

We started early to see the terracotta warriors, then headed to the wild goose pagoda and then the city wall. From there, you can follow the tour to the muslim street or head pack to your hotel.

Pick up from the hotel is included as well as transportation and ticket pricing. Overall, it was a really great tour experience and i strongly recommend it!

If you look forward to a deep understanding of the history behind the Terracotta Army, you're booking the right experience. Our guide, Celine, did an outstanding job with all her knowledge while taking care of all the details for the group. She secured the best spots for a good view and pictures and guided us smoothly despite how crowded the place was. Our lunch was great. Pickup time occurred at the right time. Highly recommended.

We took the tour of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall with our guide Helen. We were apprehensive about the time and organization. However, our guide Helen provided a great tour. Everything was well organized, with good historical explanations, we had enough time to see the tourist attractions, take photos, eat and even do some shopping. Helen was a great professional, punctual and kind. We recommend it!

Our 2nd leg of the trip was Xian and started with the welcome from our guide Rita waiting at the train station. Rita is very knowledgeable about all the historical sites that we visited and the presentation sparked the importance of Xian in Chinese history. She answered a lot of our questions and the trip went smoothly. We visited a lot of museums and the Xian city wall was just amazing. There is so much to see in Xian and Rita was flexible to arrange the schedule to ensure we got the most coverage comfortably with our limited schedule and my elder mother of 89 years old. I found that the people in Xian were friendly and helpful from the staff members at the museums and the staff at the airport where we boarded our flight to Guilin for our 3rd leg of the trip, they provided us the assistance to wheel my elderly Mom through the facility smoothly. Xian is a great place to visit. Thanks to Rita and the travel team for making the trip go smoothly.

Our 1st leg was Beijing and our guide Linda Xie did an exceptional job in getting us to and from all the visiting sites in Beijing. She has a great deal of historical knowledge on each site that we visited and answered all the questions we had. We learned a lot about Chinese history and the cultural aspects. Besides, Linda and the driver Mr. Hao provided us the above and beyond assistance in transporting my 89 year old mom to and from each visiting site throughout the day and made our trip more enjoyable. The entire leg was well arranged and taken care of from the day we arrived at Beijing and the connection to our 2nd leg to Xian. Thanks to Linda Xie and the travel team.

If you want to experience the Great Wall away from the crowds and tourist gimmicks, this is highly recommended but it will take the whole day. Oliver was our hiking guide and provided hiking poles and snacks throughout. He is very knowledgeable about each different part of the Great Wall and its historical significance.

Our starting point took two hours drive from Beijing. We then hiked up plenty of stairs for about 1 km before even reaching the Great Wall. But it was so well worth it! There was stunning countryside scenery with very few people. We hiked about 8km along the wall. It was quite steep and slippery at times so the hiking pole is very useful. Shoes with good grip are essential. Oliver gave us plenty of opportunity to end the hike at several turn off points if needed but we continued the whole way to the agreed end point. Then we were taken to a local family restaurant for a delicious and hearty lunch.

It was an incredible experience and definitely more fulfilling than just a quick visit at the tourist crowded side of the Great Wall that is closest to Beijing.

We took a day tour from Shanghai to Zhujiajiao with Sasa as our tour guide. She was amazing and very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Shanghai and its surroundings.

The Water Town is touristy and quite crowded with tourists groups and school groups. There is a central canal that you walk along with boat rides as an option. We visited two private gardens - lovely Chinese architecture and landscaping and blissful to escape the tourist crowds. They are smaller than Yu Gardens in Shanghai but I enjoyed them much more due to the peace and tranquility.

The shops are all touristy but interesting to see the various wares. Overall I felt it was a touristy visit. Sasa was so helpful and went in her own time to get Bund cruise tickets for us as we had trouble booking online.

We found all our various tour guides very helpful and flexible. I highly recommend using this travel company for whichever tour you decide upon.

The Shanghai portion of our Travel China Guide tour was fast paced and guided by Sophie Lee who was outstanding. Sophie’s knowledge and experience of Shanghai were excellent. She took great care of the two of us which allowed use to maximize our time. As our private guide, Sophie was a strong advocate for us whatever and wherever we went. Her English was very good and always explained our itinerary in detail. Her driver and the van were also very good.

I had one full day in Xi’an and this tour was perfect for seeing the must-see Xi’an places. Everything was efficient and Celine, our guide, was very good at making sure everyone had enough time to take in the terracotta warriors and the pagoda. She also explained a lot of the background history and context for what we saw as well as background on Xi’an. She answered all of my questions (and I had a lot) and was kind and informed and spoke great English. Highly recommend this tour.

The weather was excellent and we add an exceptional and beautiful cruise on the river. Our guide (Joanne) and driver were also very good, we did some extra activities after the boat such as cycling. The cruise is a must do when you visit China, the scenery are wonderful, the food on board is not great (take snacks) and drinks very expensive. This is a unique visit that worth the trip to Guilin.

Annie, our private guide in Beijing, was outstanding. With a mega city like Beijing, we needed a knowledgeable, flexible and strong advocate on your side. As an example, when heavy rain interrupted our tour plan one day, Annie was able to rearrange our schedule to maximize our time in Beijing. She also worked hard to make sure we have a wonderful and knowledgeable bicycle rickshaw driver for us to tour the historic Hutong area. Mr. Jong, our private driver was also excellent in navigating the horrendously bad Beijing traffic and always showed up when we needed to be picked up. Overall a five star experience.

Our experience visiting the Terracotta Soldiers exhibit was truly exceptional, thanks to our incredible guide, Carol. She struck the perfect balance between providing fascinating historical context and allowing us the freedom to explore at our own pace. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and thoughtful approach made the tour even more meaningful and memorable. Highly recommend

Our Travel China Guide tour in Guilin/Yangshuo was outstanding not only due to the incredible views but also because of our local guide Samantha. She was extremely knowledgeable and took great care of us. Samantha made sure we maximize our time with all the information and experience of the area which included a visit to an elderly village couple. It was obvious that Samantha cared about this couple and we enjoyed sharing our time with them. The driver was very good as well.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a short stay in Shanghai with our guide Sophie. She spoke excellent English and made sure every group member was taken care of, making sure we had opportunities for things such as bathroom breaks and explaining how to get around Shanghai. I also appreciated her perspective on how it is living in Shanghai today as a young professional.

We are very much satisfied with Travel China Guide's services, especially our tour guide, Ms. Claire. She explained a lot about Giant Pandas and all the places we visited. Ms. Claire definitely has a very likeable personality, very friendly, lot of smiles and always do anything to be helpful. We have used the services from Travel China Guide to organise a trip for my family and my brother’s family, we were 8 in total (4 adults, 4 kids) and went to Shanghai, Xi’An and Beijing.
The organisation by Travel China Guide was flawless. We stayed 2,5 days in Xi’An with our guide Carol. She is one of the best guides we ever had and thanks to her, we made the best out of those 2 days. She is super professional and shared a lot of knowledge and anecdotes, not only on the cultural things (we visited among other things, the Terracotta army, the 5 peaks mountains, the city walls, the mosque and muslim neighbourhood), but also on China and Chinese people in general, it was super interesting.
The hotel in Xi’An (SOMERSET) was also great, with family suites, swimming pool, gym, foosball, pool table, ping pong table, sauna, steam room - everything to enjoy a well deserved break after a full day of fantastic discoveries.

This is my second time using Travel China guide - but this time with my family (the first time was 10 years ago with a friend), and I am pleased to report the company is every bit as excellent as a I remember.

From the outset, when first making contact with my travel consultant (Emily Xin), communication was prompt and courteous. Emily was kind enough to make necessary amendments to the itinerary, based our needs and requests. When unexpected events arose during our trip, Emily was proactive in notifying us and arranging a suitable solution to the problem.

As for the local guides in each city, the majority were exceptional! Special mention to the following:

- Maggie (in Beijing): She was excellent in ensuring that we were set up with the necessary apps needed to communicate and get around. She thoughtfully provided us with her Wechat contact details and was kind and patient when dealing with our curious children - answering all questions in an engaging and knowledgable way. She expertly navigated us through some very busy crowds safely and efficiently. She also escorted us to the train station at the end our our stay in Beijing, ensuring our transition was as calm and easy as possible.

- Carol (in Xi'an): Another interesting and informative guide, that was so caring and mindful of our children's comfort and needs. I could not fault this lovely lady. My family and I loved Xi'an and look forward to returning one day!

- Spike (in Hangzhou): Another amazing professional, who was incredibly knowledgable and resourceful, as well as playful and energetic when engaging with our children. It was a shame we only had such a short time together!

- Pan (last day in Shanghai): This gentleman took us on an incredible breakfast food tour. His local knowledge was unparalleled, as he took us to fabulous stalls and eateries frequented by locals - food was incredible and we would not have been able to experience something like this if we were doing this trip on our own.

For first time visitors to China (travelling solo, with friends or as a family), I would not hesitate to recommend this company to you. Everything was taken care of, and transition between cities was effortless. All vehicles were clean, comfortable and well maintained and drivers were all safe and efficient. We are considering using this company again for future visits to other cities in China, as well as other neighbouring countries.
