07:30-09:00 Hotel Pick-up & Drive to Dujiangyan Panda Base
Your guide will contact you one day in advance to confirm the meeting time, usually at around 07:30. After picking you up from your hotel in downtown Chengdu, we will take a 1.5 hours' car ride to the Dujiangyan Panda Base to start this panda keeper program tour.
09:00-09:20 Complete the Registration Procedures
Upon arrival at 09:00 or so, your guide will help you handle the registration procedures. The staff there will inform you the dos and don'ts and then offer you the special uniform and volunteer card. When all the preparations are done, you will be divided into groups to complete the volunteer work under the guidance of the staff. Your tour guide will also accompany you for the entire time.
09:20-10:00 Clean the Working Area
The volunteer program will usually start at around 09:20. The first work is to clean up the working area under the guidance of the staff. Sometimes, you will also assist the staff to prepare food for pandas, such as carrying bamboo, washing bamboo shoots, smashing up the bamboo stems for pandas to eat.

10:00-10:30 Watch the Keeper to Feed a Panda
At 10:00 or so, you will have chance to see how the professional keepers feed the giant pandas through the enclosures.
10:30-11:30 Learn about more of Giant Pandas
The professional keeper will give you a simple lecture about living habits of Giant Pandas. You will learn many interesting knowledge about pandas.

11:30-12:50 Lunch and Rest
Then a simple Chinese lunch (keeper’s lunch) will be offered for you at around 11:30 in the Base’s Canteen.
12:50-13:50 Watch a Documentary about Giant Pandas
13:50-14:30 Making the Panda Cake
You will be guided to the office to make the panda cake. Learn the difference of between the diet of captive and wild Giant Pandas.
14:30-15:30 Prepare Food for the Elder Pandas
Cutting bamboo leaves for elderly giant pandas undergoing rehabilitation and recuperation. After then, the whole volunteer program is going to end at 15:30 or so and you will be awarded a certificate issued by the Dujiangyan Panda Base.

Friendly Tips
- The volunteer program is subject to cancellation due to government activities, healthy issues of pandas, overbooking... For the last condition, you’re suggested to reserve the trip as early as possible.
- The above times and activities are for your reference and they will be finally subject to the base's arrangement. For example, some pandas may be out of condition so they could only be fed once a day. Generally, the feeding will be arranged at least once a day.
- We can also arrange a half-day trip if you have limited time, but the fare remains the same.
- Please don't wear perfume or nail polish considering the health of these adorable giant pandas.
- For safety reasons, only people between the age of 12 and 65 can participate in the volunteer program at the Dujiangyan Panda Base.
