 Name: The Republic of Cape Verde (República de Cabo Verde)

 People: The country has a population of about 500,000 at the end of 2006. Creole people account for 71 percent of the total population.

 Language: Portuguese is the official language and Creole is the national language.

 Religion: About ninety-eight percent of the people embrace Catholicism.

 Geography: 4,033 square kilometers (1,557 square miles)
