i'm working as a foreign language teacher in shandong province.for the past two years, my employer has processed for me the extension of my residence permit here each time i signed the contract for another year's work.usually this occurred in the month of july after i finished a school year contract.furtheremore, my employer has expressed the desire to hire me for the next five years on a yearly basis.now my passport expires in november 2011. when is the appropriate time for me to renew my passport and where if i decide not to go back to the philippines for the next five school years?

Nov. 16,2009 19:43
Mr.John Nash(USA) replied:

You should go to the Filipino Embassy in Beijing to renew your passport because Shandong Province is under its consular jurisdiction. I think you'd better renew it before October 2010 because the extension of one year residence permit is made in July.

thanks a lot mr. john nash, for the enlightenment.i'd surely do that in summer next year.

Ms.majo(philippines) replied:

thanks for the reply but we already did it. china embassy just gave us the procedure and didn't advise if there are agencies who can arrange the documents on my sister's behalf. they just oonfirmed that the embassy can't issue police clearances and that it must be arranged by the applicant or her authorized party.

Hi Mr. Donald! Thank you so much for your help! I have some more questions though. I just wanna make sure I have all the necessary documents I need when I go to the Phillipine embassy in Shanghai. What documents will I need to bring in order to get an affidavit of support and consent for my children as well as a special power of attorney since I won't be the one travelling with them because of my job here in China? They are coming here to China with a family friend to visit me for 2 weeks. Would it be okay to combine my children's names on the affidavit of support and special power of attorney? How many documents will I need for each applicant? I have 2 children and a family friend who will be travelling with them. Do I need an affidavit of illegitimacy for my children since they were born out of wedlock? I'm a single mom and I was never married to their father so is it necessary because both of my children are illegitimate. Any help would be appreciated from you or anyone. Thanks in advance!

You are right that you can renew your passport at the Philippines Embassy in China. The Embassy's phone is always hard to get through, so I advise you go to the Embassy in person.
