I am a UK citizen, studying in Chita on a multi-entry Russian student visa. In order to visit China, do I need to get a Chinese visa from Khabarovsk? Or is there a consulate in Irkutsk?
Also, there are many 'tour groups' from Chita to Manzhouli- could I join one of them, as a UK passport holder, or would they be for Russians only?

You need to get the Chinese visa from Khabarovsk. You can join the tour groups.

It is more convenient for you to contact an agency in Saint Petersburg than an agency in China.Contact the consulate to enquire about the designated travel agencies.

Mrs.natalia, I can't find the exact May holiday, according to tradition, I guess the Chinese consulate in Khabarovsk will be closed from May 1 to May 3 (Friday to Sunday)
