Big Wild Goose Pagoda - The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the famed Buddhist architecture of the Tang Dynasty, stands in the west courtyard of the ancient Da Ci'en Temple and witnesses the change of Xian from age to age. The temple was on a large scale in the Tang Dynasty. The renowned monk master Xuan Zang was the first abbot of the temple, so it became the Buddhist center of China at that time. Then in 652AD, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built to store the scriptures brought back by Xuan Zang from India.

Terracotta Warriors - By far there are three pits of terracotta warriors and horses discovered. Among them, the pit 1 is the first one to be found. In March in 1974, the local villagers accidentally found it when they drilled wells. In pit 1, there are over 6,000 pieces of terracotta warriors and horses figures and 1,000 of them have been unearthed. They formed a well-organized battle formation which was mainly composed of infantry and cavalry. They seemed to get ready to start fighting at any moment when the order was given. What a mighty force they were!

Private transfer takes you to the airport and your pleasant China tour ends here.

Specials: A la carte lunch
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Descriptions:
Shaanxi History Museum - Unique historical and culture heritage of Shaanxi is undoubted worth the praise as treasure house of Chinese civilization, and Shaanxi History Museum is definitely a palace of art to display Shaanxi's history and culture and China's ancient civilization. There are as many as some 370,000 antiquities collected in the 11,000-square-meter exhibition halls and 8,000-square-meters storage, ranging from prehistorical relics to that of the 1840s. Time spans more than one million years and the collection is superior in value, quantity, rank and species.

City Wall - Embosomed by broad deep moat and smothered with densely woods, the City Wall of Xian has become a beautiful scene of the ancient city. It was built since early Ming Dynasty on the basis of Tang imperial city. Through five times of large scale restoration in history, it finally made to be a great fortification, which is nowadays the most intact and largest ancient city wall of China in existence, listed among the first batch of national key historical and cultural relics by the State Council early in the 1960s.

Great Mosque - Unlike authentic mosques in Arabic countries, the Great Mosque in Xian is in Chinese style with courtyards, except for some Arabic lettering and decorations. It has neither domes nor minarets of traditional Islamic mosque. However, as the largest and one of the earliest mosques in Xian, it is the major spot for religious activities of tens of thousand Moslems in the city. Around the mosque is the largest Moslem community, Hui Fang, where Islamic customs, tens of lanes and countless Moslem snack shops are well reserved.

The Terra Cotta Warriors Museum opens almost every day even though during the traditional Chinese festivals, also the Spring Festival. Of course it opens on the weekends. Openning time: 08:30 to 17:30. Entrance fee: rmb95 in high season (Mar 1st to Nov 30) while rmb65 in high season, no need for reservation, can buy it on the spots.

We took the tour arranged by the travel agency and were always accompanied by the guide and driver. They took good care of us and reminded us of the pick-pockets from time to time. We felt that we were always guarded by them safely. It seems that our paid tour is really worthwhile. Money really makes us worry-free. :)

Occasionally I work as a tour guide in Xi'an and therefore hear many bad experiences from tourists. Top 5 of Scam Classics

5: Restaurant people add strange taxes or unordered dishes to your bill (of course all written in Chinese to create confusion)

4: Young girls or boys invite you the see an exhibition of their art school and, once in a shabby hotel room, try to force you to buy paintings

3: Taxi drivers use the radio frequency display instead of the money meter to show how much you need to pay.

2: After having arrived at your destination, drivers will tell you that the amount of money you beforehand agreed upon is only for one person instead of for everyone riding the vehicle.

1: Nice girls invite you for a tea ceremony with her friends. The friends never show up and you are lured to a tea house where they’ll pull every trick to make you order as many expensive teas as possible (like “Chinese habit is that we need order at least 5 different kinds of tea” or “7 is an unlucky number, order 9 pots of tea!”) Some tourist even were forced to pay as much as 1000 yuan
