Location: Xiaoting District is 26 kilometers
(16.2 miles) from the city center and 55 kilometers (34.2 miles)
from Three Gorges Dam.
Brief Intro: Sanxia Airport has played an important
role in the construction of the Three Gorges Dam Project. The
airport was built in 1993 and finished in 1996. It occupies an
area of about 3,966.4 mu (653.4 acres), and the runway is 2,600
meters (1.6 miles). Since 1996, the airport is home to 24 domestic
airlines and 4 temporary international airlines. The airport is
a major hub that is busy with planes coming and going from Yichang
to many of the biggest cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai,
Guangzhou and Xian. The international airlines fly to and from
Hong Kong and Japanese, which is only temporary for now until
established routes can be maintained.

Car Parking: The airport car park offers over
1,000 parking spaces, comprising a total area of 17,000 sq m (4.2
acres).
Shops: There are over 1,000 locally made products
here as well as 1,500 delicate handcrafted items that are sold
in the commercial center of the Departure Hall.
Dining: The restaurant in Departure Hall offers
passengers Chinese dishes as well as Western Food. Drinks of all
kinds can also be found there.

Airport Transportation: There are 6 shuttle buses
running between Sanxia Airport and Yichang city center every day.
The buses leave from Qingjiang Hotel in the city center 2 hours
ahead of each flight. It takes about 50 minutes, and the fare
is CNY20. Taxis are also available from the airport.
