Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Shenzhen Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.
Tips: If you arrive in Shenzhen early, it should be a good idea to learn this city by yourself today. The best place to have a great bird's eye view of Shenzhen is located at the junction of Shenzhen Dong Lu, Jiefang Lu and Baoan Nan Lu - the Diwang Mansion. The lift will take you to the top of this 384-meter-high building in 50 seconds, where you could have the best viewing angle.

Description:
Splendid China - This miniature scenic area covers an area of 300,000 square meters. It collects 82 different miniatures of Chinese famous ancient buildings, landscapes and residential houses which could represent a living history and custom of China. All of these spots are made on a scale of 1 to 15 and laid to replicate their locations on China map. Additionally, there are over 50,000 terra cotta figures positioned in different spots to enhance the models' original flavor.
Folk-Custom Culture Village - The Village aims to display the varied cultures and customs of these ethnic minorities in China. In the 200,000 square meters exhibition area, 25 different villages of 22 ethnic groups are positioned at a ratio of 1:1. Besides of knowing the unique buildings of those groups, travelers also have opportunities to participate in the various kinds of festival celebrations, taste exotic food and purchase some delicate handicrafts. If you come here at night, you will be lucky to watch three large and splendid folk dance shows, which could give you an astonishing impression of China.

Dear Mr. Andres,
I hope it is not too late to reply since I do not visit this website often. Let me answer your question: Your best transportation from airport to Luohu area is the taxi. Make sure you are in the taxi pickup area. Do not take any offer from anyone else. Starting rate should be RMB$12.50 per car, it does not make any difference if you are 1 person or 4 persons. The total cost should be less than RMB$150.00 which already included the tollway fees.
Laodifang Hotel is decent (3 stars), RMB200 /night, it is 15-20 minutes walk to Train station to Hong Kong. It is close to local shopping and restaurants. My personal favorite is Metro Park Hotel. The price is RMB$400 /night, but all the rooms are business suite with a simple kitchen. This hotel is about 10-15 minutes taxi ride to the train station to Hong Kong. Good Luck!

Another spot in Shenzhen is highly recommended, which is called The China Folk Culture Villages. It is very close to Splendid China, the world''s largest miniature scenic spot. One day is enough to visit both of them.
This village is a museum of China''s 55 ethnic groups with their distinctive architecture, customs and exotic flavor. Twenty-four life-size ethnic villages present various ethnic flavors from Beijing''s courtyards and wooden archway to spectacular buildings of the Miao, Dong, Yao, Jingpo ethnic groups. From the wooded Banyans in Xishuangbanna to slender Suzhou bridges and mystery Lijiang houses, you can get a general idea
about China''s ethnic groups in just half a day.

The China Folk Culture Village, in Shenzhen, has many rides, shows, food, and also gives some history of China. It is a great thing to do with children but if you are an adult I would suggest skipping it. I wouldn''t call it a tourist trap because many of its patrons are locals, i.e. school kids and such, but it sure seems like one. The "Dancing with Dragon and Phoenix" show is actually quite entertaining. The food hall, however, is nasty. The food was just gross.

Sometimes when people visit China, they may take the old historical places as their first choice. But in my opinion, many young cities are also attractive. You can experience new activities during day and night. I just back from my trip to Shenzhen. It was wonderful. The Splendid China, the Culture Villages and the Happy Vally are all very interesting.
