These photos refer to the famous monk, interpreter and traveler in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Xuanzang (the religious name), whose surname is Chen. Chenhe Village, 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Luoyang City, is Xuanzang's hometown. The former residence of Xuanzang is located in the center of Chenhe Village, covering an area of about 25 mu (4 acres). The residence includes front and back yards. Behind the back yard lies the Foguang Temple. To the south of the residence is the Chen's Garden.
