Zhanyuan Garden Pictures

The Zhanyuan Garden has two parts. Its gate is at the eastern part with a large plaque inscribed with "the First Garden of Nanjing" hung on.

Located at 208 Zhanyuan Road, Zhanyuan Garden is also called Taiping Heavenly Kingdom History Museum. It is representative of the Suzhou style of gardening. Built in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), it once was Zhongshan Prince, Xu Da's private garden. In 1853, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom set up the capital in Nanjing and here became the site of  East King Yang Shenxiu's mansion. Attraction Intro: Zhanyuan Garden

Zhongyangmen Bus Station in Nanjing has buses to Shanghai, but it will not get to Pudong Airport any more. The bus line has been canceled. You need to change to airport bus to Pudong after arriving in Shanghai.

I froze my tail off there during a vacation in December 1999. I spent 15 days from the 1st to 15th. Remember the city is on the banks of the Yantzee River. Real damp, not much sun that time of year. I still had the time of my life despite the chilly weather. Cabs are everywhere. You will see motorized rickshaws with disabled stickers. Folks who have mobility problems run these. The women are the safest drivers.... the men are crazy drivers. The cab drivers may get mad at you, but so what if your safe with a good women driver. love the place
