- Pit 1 of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum was excavated in 1974 when the local farmers were drilling a well. Covering an area of 14,000 square meters, Pit 1 was in a rectangular shape. Pit 1 has chariots and ranks of 6,000 soldiers arranged in a war formation, which is a vivid display of Emperor Qin's formidable army. Pit 1 was opened to visitors in October 1, 1979. They came about from a man who's name I can't remember,It's very long. These were put by his tomb after his death so in his "afterlife," he could have battles and wars. They represent his army.
