Known as the symbol of Xian, the Bell Tower and Drum Tower were originally built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The Bell Tower, with a huge bell once used for telling time, lies at the very heart of the City and is the juncture of four main roads extending to the east, south, west and north.
