In Tai'an, there are a lot of delicacies, which are sorted into snacks and feasts. The local snacks are in great variety. Among them, the most famous ones are Tai'an Pancake, Jiang-bao-gua (a snack wrapped by melon peel with the lettuce, cucumber, melon seeds and candy as the filling), Jiang-mo-qie (made of the pickled eggplants), Yazao (a kind of Chinese dates) and Fried Red Phosphorus Fish. As for the feasts, the Beancurd Feast and the Wild Vegetable Feast have quite a long history. In Chinese ancient times, the emperors who came to the Mount Taishan wanted to eat something vegetarian and they liked those two dishes very much.

I would add the buffet in the Ramada Hotel (on No.16, Ying Sheng East Road) Excellent western buffet lunches and dinners. The decor may be the nicest in the city. Food is excellent. A little pricey
