As a city inhabited by minority groups, Turpan is an attractive city sending out some Uygur flavor. It is the lowest as well as the hottest place all over the country. The highest temperature ever recorded is 47.8C (118F). Lying in the Turpan Basin, the elevation of most of the places in the area is below 500 meters (1,640 feet). Benefit from its geographic position, Turpan is rich in fruits of all kinds, especially the grapes. It is also a city with abundant tourist resources.
