Yueyang, a very important tourist city, is one of the important stops for shipping business on the Yangtze River. The biggest port in Hunan province, the Chenglingji Port is located in the north Yueyang City, and from where you may take upstream cruise to Chongqing, or take downstream cruise to Shanghai. Being the only sightseeing point along the Yangtze River of Hunan province, travel to Yueyang is very convenient nowadays, since it is only 130 kilometers away from the provincial capital of Hunan, and its waterway, railway and highway extend to all directions.

When you are in Yueyang, the site you shouldn't miss is of course the symbol of the city - Yueyang Lou Tower. From the railway station, turn right and go down the street to the end, then turn left and walk for about 100 meters, you will reach the pedestrian, where you may find many shops and small restaurants to taste the local flavor and feel the local life style. Continue walking for about 1000 meters when you arrive at the west end of the pedestrian, you will see the Yueyang Lou Tower. If you do not want to walk, taxi may be the best choice. Yueyang Lou Tower is one of the three famous towers and pavilions in South China, and lots of famous writer literati eulogized it and created many poems for it. Till now, Yueyang Lou Tower is more than 1700 years old, and it was said that this tower was the building to review troops in Three Kingdom Period, and it became the famous scenic spot gradually from Tang Dynasty. The scenic spot includes several small sites, such as Yueyang Lou Tower, Yueyang Lou Gate, tomb of Xiaoqiao, Xianmei Pavilion, etc. The admission is CNY48.00 per person.

Then you may take bus No. 15 from the Yueyang railway station to Mt. Junshan, the single way ticket is CNY5.00 per person. Or, you may take ferry from Yueyang Lou Tower port to Mt. Junshan from June to September when the water is abundant, the round way ticket is CNY60.00 per person. Mt. Junshan is an island on Dongting Lake, the total area is 0.96 square kilometer, and composed by 72 mountain peaks, and it was listed by Taoism as the 11th paradise in the world. Presently, it is also the state-level key scenic spot area and the national AAAA level tourist area. In Mt. Junshan area, you not only can appreciate the beauty of the Dongting Lake, but also visit lots of spots with different but engaging legend stories, including Dongting Temple, Liuyi Well and Tomb of Two Imperial Concubines. There is no hotel in the mountain, and if you want to visit other sites, we suggest you back to Yueyang City and continue your explore the city on the next day.
