My Husband I are going to be in China in August and we are trying to take a train/sleeper buses from Hong Kong to Chengdu. We want to stop at a town or two to break up the trip. Does anyone have any good ideas for routes and sites about sleeper buses?

Jun. 27,2009 03:11
Ms.Yuan(China) replied:

There are no through trains from Gong Kong to Chengdu. You can go to Guangzhou from Hong Kong by train or by bus first and then go to Chengdu by train. The trip from Guangzhou to Chengdu is long. Remember to take the Train K192 to Chengdu. Now, it's the fastest train from Guangzhou to Chengdu. You should purchase the train ticket several days in advance and the sleeper ticket(hard or soft) is better. 29 hours will be spent on the train.

The distance between guangzhou and ningbo is 2252 km, it may take about 2 hours by air. Distance between guangzhou and qingdao is 1780 km, it will take about 30 hours by train and 2 hours by plane. The diatance between ningbo and qingdao is 1338 and it will take 1.5 hours by air. In my opinion. the best place to buy computer and electronic parts is guangzhou. Have a good time!

Hi,You need to have a travel permit when traveling into tibet. But the permit is issued only to tour groups traveling with a Chinese tour operator. Thus the best way is to follow a reliable travel agency.
