By City-bus

City buses in Shaoxing provide the main method of transportation. There are over 60 bus lines in the Shaoxing downtown area and 80 bus lines in the surrounding area. This provides a complex bus network and makes your trip here much more convenient. Buses in Shaoxing are of two types: one is self-service, charging CNY 1 per person; the other charges according to the distance it runs, but the starting fare is also CNY 1 per person.

Tip: The self-service bus has a box in the up-door, the passenger have to slip money into the hole in the top of the bus when getting on the bus. However, the other bus do not has such a box.

There are two holiday tourist lines in Shaoxing:

By Taxi

Shaoxing taxis are a bit different from those in other cities. Each taxi company in Shaoxing has a distinct animal symbol, including dragon, dog, giraffe, panda, rabbit, horse, penguin, elephant and sheep. These are not only for an interesting appearance but also for the convenience of passengers. If you lost something on your taxi, you can quickly find the company for this taxi if you remember only the symbol on the taxi.

There are over 800 taxis in Shaoxing. The starting fare is CNY 5 for the first 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles), then, CNY 2.2 for each additional kilometer. A fuel surcharge of CNY 1 is also required per trip. Some of the city's tour destinations are not very far from the city center, such as the East Lake, so it is convenient for you to travel by taxi at reasonable price. However, if you would like to the attractions in the suburb, such as the Keyan Scenic Resort and the Orchid Pavilion, the cost will be much more.

On Jan 20, 2009, the first city bus from Keqiao of Shaoxing to Hangzhou was operated. This is the first intercity public bus line between Shaoxing and Hangzhou. This route is 57 kilometers long. It starts from Keqiao Clothing City via Shaoxing Science and Technology Center, Textiles Market, the end of Xiaoma Road, the end of Kehua Road, Qianqing, Yaqian, Yangxun Bridge, and Flower and Plants City. Finally, it reaches Huanglong, Hangzhou. The departure time is 6:30、7:10、7:50、8:30、9:10、10:10、11:00、11:40、12:20、13:00、14:00、14:40、15:20、16:00、16:40.
