- The Shang (17th-11th Century BC) and Western Zhou (1046-771BC) Dynasties are the earliest archeologically reported dynasties in Chinese history. The two dynasties saw the beginning and growth of Chinese civilization. The period is called the Bronze Age in China, when the Bronze casting technique developed to a high level. Oracle inscriptions are considered to be the earliest written language.
