Location: Fuxin City lies in the northwest corner of Liaoning Province. Its neighbor city to the east is Shenyang, with Dalian to the north. Liaodong (Eastern Liaoning) Bay is situated to its south.

History: Historically, Fuxin is located in a border area. It was governed primarily by regimes that were established by ethnic minorities in Northeast China.  It was only administrated temporarily by a few dynasties in Central China. This region was successively inhabited by numerous ethnic groups, including the Donghu, Hun, Xianbei, Kitan, Jurchen, Mongol and Manchu.

Physical Features: Fuxin is situated in the transition area between the Inner Mongolia Plateau and the Liaohe River Plain.   The city belongs to the low mountainous, hilly area in western Liaoning.  Its terrain is higher in the northwest and southwest, and lower in the southeast and northeast.

Climate: The city has a temperate continental monsoon climate, featuring abundant sunshine and four distinct seasons. It is windy in spring, and the temperatures fluctuate greatly. The weather in summer is rainy and overcast, which help create high temperatures and high relative humidity. Massive bursts of precipitation become more common during mid-July to mid-August. Affected by the monsoon from Siberia, the winter of Fuxin is chilly, but the sky is clear.

When to Go: Spring and autumn are wonderful times to visit Fuxin.

Special Local Products: agate articles, apricot, pickle, sea buckthorn oil (of medical value)

 Attractions:
Haitangshan National Forest Park is situated in Daban Township of the Fuxin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, and is 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) southwest of Fuxin city proper. Cliff Sculptures at the Haitang Mountain, which is commonly known as Lama Cave, is a man-made spectacle showing the excellent folk stone carving technique of ancient China. There are more than two hundred and sixty Buddhist figures on the cliff, and most of them were created three hundred years ago.

Ruiying Monastery is a Lamaism temple that was first built during the Qing Dynasty. Through three years of construction, the grand temple is an important center of Tibetan Branch Buddhism in the east.

Travel Tips:
1. Before the Shenyang-Zhangwu Highway was completed, it took approximately three hours to travel from Shenyang to Fuxin.  However, about one hour is sufficient now. The highway greatly shortens the distance between the two cities, and it is more accessible for visitors who rely on the Shenyang Taoxian International Airport.

2. Fuxin Railway Station: Zhenxing Lu, Haizhou District
Fuxin central long-distance bus station: 95, Yingbin Jie, Haizhou District
