Location: Situated in the north part of Liaoning, Tieling neighbors Shenyang, the capital city of the province in the southwest, and is bordered by Jilin in the east and Inner Mongolia in the west.        

History: Present realm of Tieling was dominated by Kitan and Koguryo kingdoms in ancient times. The name of Tieling first appeared in the Ming Dynasty as Tieling Wei which was later reestablished in Yinzhou (old name of present Tieling area).       
 
Physical Features: Mountains and hills are respectively distributed in the east and west region of the city and the central area is made up of Liaohe Plain that gently slopes from the north to the south. Generally speaking, the eastern hilly area and the western plain are the two main morphologic regions of Tieling.                 

Climate: Enjoying a temperate continental monsoon climate, the city is characterized by arid and chilly winter, wet and torrid summer, rich sunlight and clear dry and humid seasons. The annual average temperature falls around 6.3℃ (43.3℉).  
     
When to Go: April to October 

Special Local Products: sika deer (spotted deer), mushroom, hazel, scallions 

 Attractions:
Shangyanghu Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level resort in northeastern Tieling City. The whole scenic area is set in the reservoir, Shangyang Lake, bearing elegant natural scenery and historic relics, such as 'the number one inclining Buddha in Northeast China' and Yong'an Temple. Entertainments facilities such as ropeway and skiing field are also well equipped.

If visitors want to learn more about the city, they may continue their tour to Longshan Golf Club, Yingang Academy, Tieling Museum, Saibeihu Scenic Area, Ancient Xianzhou City, Chengzishan Scenic Spot and Longshou Mountain.

Travel Tips:
Tieling is about an hour's drive from Shenyang. Buses are available from the central bus station of Tieling at 38, Guangrong Jie, Yinzhou District. Intercity public bus line between Tieling Railway Station and Shenyang North Railway Station is expected to be open in the near future. At that time, it will be more accessible to get to the stops on the way, because regular buses from Shenyang to Tieling are direct buses without stops during the courses.

Within a day, there are ten trains from Tieling to Dalian, including Trains K7334, 2122, 2210, 2018, 2170,K7360, 2082, 2624, 2052 and 2220. The ticket is about CNY39 for hard seat, CNY64 for soft seat, CNY78 to 83 for hard sleeper and CNY120 to 125 for soft sleeper. The trip costs about 7 hours.
