- 5 Days of Lijiang - Tiger Leaping Gorge - Half-way Guest House - Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge - Walnut Grove - Lijiang
Font Size: - Day 01: Arrival in Lijiang
Arrive in Lijiang and get prepared. Stay overnight at the local hotel.
Day 02: Lijiang
Visit the Square Street of the Lijiang Old Town, the Baisha Village and a local Naxi family, the Baisha Murals and the Rock Joseph's Former Residence in Yuhu Village. Enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music and Dance Performance at Dongba Palace. You may have time to walk through the old town to appreciate the 1,000 year-old small bridges, swift canals, cobbled streets and grey tiled roofs. Meanwhile, enjoy yourself with both the Western and Chinese food in the town.
Day 03:Lijiang - Tiger Leaping Gorge - Half-way Guest House
Drive for two hours to Qiaotou (means Bridge End in Chinese) (1835m). After crossing the Yangtze River, trek for approximately six hours to the Halfway Guest house. First trek two hours to Naxi Family Guest house, and have a good rest there. Then trek another 2 hours further up the steep 28-bends and reach the top of 2670m along the way. After another 1-2 hour on the way, arrive at half-way guest house, with a great view of Yulong Snow Mountain and overlooking the Jinshajiang River Valley. The guest house is simple but quiet and clean. Stay overnight in Half-way guest house.
Day 04: Half-way Guest House - Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge - Walnut Grove - Lijiang
Hike down to Tina’s Guest house passing a small but high waterfall on the way. Then trek further down to the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge and go back (about one and a half hour). A short drive with local transfer available will take you from Tina’s Guest House to the lower part of Gorge. Get off and walk for about half an hour to the bank of the River. Then hike further along the road to the lower section of the Gorge (about 1.5-2 hours). Take ferry across the River there. Not far from the Lower Section of gorge while at the other side of river is the village of Daju. Descent the ferry and trek about one hour to arrive at Daju Village (1718m), whose inhabitants are mostly Nakhi. After a rest in Daju village, drive back to Lijiang.
Day 05: Departure from Lijiang
Leave Lijiang according your schedule.

10.2 arrive at Kunming, take taxi to bus station to buy tickets to Lijiang, 196yuan (with 2Y and 4Y insurance to choose). About 8.5 hours from Kunming to Lijiang. Lived in Suhe Village, 180Y for accommodation.
Tips: if living in the old village, or Lijiang old city, remember to ask for the receipt of accommodation, which proves that you have paid for the environment fees included in the accommodation. When you go to other scenic spots, such as the Yulong Snow Mountain, you don’t need to pay for the environment fees.

Take a minivan from Suhe village to Lijiang, 2 yuan. Rent a van to Yulong Snow Mountain, 100 yuan. Horse riding, 300 yuan.
Tips: 1. the minivan runs between Lijiang and Suhe, 2 yuan for each, they usually stopp at the village mouth and move after all seats taken. But if you take it as a taxi, 20 yuan each.
2. The cable ticket for Yulong Snow Mountain must be bought in advance during the peak season. When we got there, all tickets sold out. We have to choose to ride horses, but we came across heavy rain and returned immediately. So we did not see the snow mountain. Pity.
About Yulong Snow Mountain: I heard from the van driver, that long years ago, Lijiang is a sea, a Yulong (Jade Dragon) feels that it is a pity that human being could not live this great place, so it transforms himself into a snow mountain to block the Jin Sha Jiang river, thus Lijiang becomes the habitat of human beings.

Rent a van to Tiger Jumping gorge, ticket 50 yuan. In the afternoon, we get to Shangri-la, visit Song Zan Lin temple, ticket 30 yuan. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Yunnan province. People call it “small Potala Palace”. Living in Shangri-la, 50 yuan.

Pudacuo National Park, ticket 190 yuan (worthwhile, very beautiful). Return to Lijing. For these two days of van rental fee, 700 yuan. Take a night long-distance bus to Kunming, 142 yuan.

Stone Forest park, ticket 140 yuan.

Take plane from Kunming to Beijing, 1940 yuan (full price).
