Bhutan Jhomolhari Adventure

Welcome to Paro and join our tour! Upon your arrival, our guide and the driver will pick you up at the Paro international airport. If the weather is pleasant, you must have seen the lush Paro Valley in midair. After the warm greeting, we will move to visit Paro National Museum, where there are many precious cultural relics, Thangka religious paintings and various works of art. Then we will have lunch at Paro. After that, we're going to visit Paro Dzong and then check in the local hotel. In the rest of the day, you are free to wander around Paro. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Today the guide will accompany you to visit Taktshang Goemba, Bhutan's most famous Buddhist temple, which sits on a 3,000-foot-high cliff in Paro Valley. After the visit we will have lunch. Next, go to visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the holiest and oldest temples in Bhutan, which was built in the 7th century on the orders of the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this place.

At about 6:30 am we will set off for Sharna Zampa, where our trekking guide, chef and groom will be waiting. At Gunitsawa Army Post, our army permit will be checked and endorsed. After arrival at Sharna Zampa, enjoy the breakfast prepared by the chief. Then our whole day trekking will start. Our team will go up the hill through the valley and then follow a path to the grassland where we're going to build our camp tonight. If the weather is pleasant, you can see beautiful scenery of Mt. Jomolhari.

After having breakfast at the camp, we will continue our trip today along Paro Chhu. On the way we will cross an army checkpoint, enjoy the stunning views of high mountains, ridges and snowcapped peaks right in front of us. In this area, we could often come across the cattle and houses of herdsmen. We will trek through the villages of Soe, Takethang and Dangochang and finally arrive at Jangothang, one of the most beautiful campsites in the Himalayas. Then we will camp here. You can also enjoy the magnificent scenes of Mount Jomolhari.

Today we plan to take a day off at Jangothang camp to enjoy surrounding natural beauty such as the snow covered Jomolhari Mountain and Jichu Drake. If lucky, you can also find some blue sheep on the hillside. Or we can head to Lake Tshophu for a visit on foot if interested.

Today we will continue our trekking adventure. On the way we will pass picturesque Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake and Tserim Gang. Then cross the Nyelela Pass at 4,700 m high and continue hiking through a beautiful Lingshi Village. Standing on the top of a high mountain, you will see Lingshi Dzong. Tonight we will stay at Lingshi camp.

After having breakfast at the camp, we will follow the trail up to the Yelila Pass at 4,930m high. If the weather is good, we can enjoy the beauty of Jumolhari, Tserimgang and Masanggang. The road from the pass to Shodu Camp is a steep downhill, so watch out for safety. We will camp overnight at Shodu.

Today, we will hike along Thimphu Chhu through mountains, azalea bushes and forests and pass beautiful waterfalls. The valley narrows as we go along, until it becomes a path leading up to the hill. We will then trek down the path until we reach the ruins of Barshong Dzong. We will spend the night at Dolam Kencho Camp.

Today, our trekking will end at Dolam Kencho. Say goodbye to our trekking staff and horseman. The local driver will pick you up there and transfer you to a local hotel for lunch. Then, the driver will send you to the hotel in Thimphu. You are free to go anywhere in the rest of the day.

Today the guide will escort you to visit highlights in Thimphu. We will first visit Drupthop Dewachen Nunnery, which was founded in 1976. Then we will go to visit Royal Takin Preserve, where you can see the Bhutan's national protection animal Takin. Have lunch at Thimphu town at noon. In the afternoon, we will visit the Paper Factory. You can learn about the traditional method of making authentic Bhutanese Paper, also known as deh-sho. Craft Bazar, a traditional bamboo hut showcasing exquisite handicrafts made by various Bhutanese craftsmen is the next stop. After the visit, you are free to go anywhere during the rest of the day.
