Bolivia Vacation from Santa Cruz

Welcome to Santa Cruz, the first stop of our 2 weeks Bolivia tour! The guide and the driver will wait for you at the airport exit and transfer you to the hotel. In the afternoon free for your own activities, you can head to the shopping malls to sample the delicious local food.

Accommodation: Radisson Hotel Santa Cruz

At about 08:30 in the morning, we will set out from the hotel to Refugio Los Volcanes 2 hours' driving away. During the way, we will stop over at the Mirador of Refugio Los Volcanes for some time so that you can appreciate the scenery and take some pictures. Afterwards, transfer to a 4wd and drive 20 minutes to the scenic area. After checking in the hotel, you can explore the natural waterfalls near the hotel and enjoy a bath in it by yourself. In the afternoon, a hiking tour for 2 - 3 hours will be arranged for you to observe the varieties of plants, animals and birds.

After breakfast, our rainforest exploration will start. We will hike from the Ecolodge to the rainforest and spend a leisure time watching the various birds & animals, beautiful waterfalls and lush trees. Around noon, return to the hotel and enjoy the lunch. At about 15:00, we are going to check out and go back to Santa Cruz.

The driver will transfer you to Santa Cruz Airport in the morning. Then you will need to fly to Sucre, taking 40 minutes. On arrival, the local guide and the driver will pick you up and escort you to the hotel. After a short break, we will walk 5 minutes to the Plaza 25 de Mayo in the city center. It is one of the most beautiful plazas in Bolivia. Then you will be led to visit Town Hall, the House of Liberty and Prefecture of the department and the Metropolitan Cathedral in sequence. The next stop is Indigenous Textile Museum ASUR. If lucky, we will see the experienced workers showing their supurb weaving skills here. Finally, appreciate the city landscapes in La Recoleta, the best city viewing point. After the tour, the guide will lead you back to the hotel.

After breakfast, we will drive about 2 hours to Potosi. In the city, we will visit the Main Square surrounded by the spetacular historical architectures and then the Cathedral. Afterwards, continue to Uyuni. We will spend 3 - 3.5 hours on the way to drive there.

After picking you up, we will head to explore the Uyuni Salt Flats. First, drive 40 minutes to the Train Cemetery where you can see the rusted trains scattering on the ground. Then go to Colchani village to see how the salt is extracted. After crossing the Salt Flat, we will arrive at Isla de Incahuasi. This is a splendid island covered with cactus, and you can take some wonderful photos here. Finally, we will retun to the hotel in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

To catch the earliest flight to La Paz, the driver will transfer you from the hotel to the Uyuni airport in the morning. After 50 minutes, you will arrive there and meet our local guide and the driver at the airport exit. Then they will transfer you to the hotel and take a short break. Afterwards, start to explore the city by taking the Mi Teleferico. With a height of 4,000 meters (13,000 feet), this local cable car network will provide you with a panoramic view of the whole city. After getting off, we will go sightseeing the tourists attractions in downtown, including Museo de Metales Preciosos, Plaza Murillo, etc. The final stop is the Witches' Market which displays the unique local culture and faith and sells various local foods. In the end, you will be led to the hotel for check-in.

Today, we will leave for Copacabana town by 3.5 hours' car ride. Upon arrival, transfer to a boat to get to the Isal De Sol in 50 minutes to 1 hour. The following tour will include Inca Garden, Sacred Fountain of Incas, Pilcokaina Palace and Yumani Stairway. And the lunch will be the delicious apthapi which is made of fresh potatoes, dried potatoes, broad beans, wheat, cold cheese, banana, boiled egg or omelette. After the tour, we will go back to Copacabana town.

After breakfast, we will have a trip to the church and market in the town. Then drive to the most imporatnt Inca site in Bolivia - Tiwanaku Ruins. You will learn about the history and stories about it and visit the museums nearby. In the end, we will take the car for 1.5 hours to reach La Paz.

In the morning, the driver will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the airport for the 50-minute flight to Rurrenabaque. After arrival, you will be guided to the hotel by the local driver. Then the rest day is left for your own.

Today we will travel to the Madidi National Park. First, we need to drive to the port in River Beni and take the boat there. When sailing along the Beni River and Tuichi River, you can watch various kinds of wild animals. After 5.5 - 6 hours, we will disembark at the port of Chalalan and walk 25 minutes to Chalalan Ecolodge. In the afternoon, stroll along the Paraba path to appreciate the natural beauty of Lake Chalalan and Madidi rainforest. Then go back to the Ecolodge. After dinner, a canoe tour will be arranged on Lake Chalalan, during which you can see the amphibians and nocturnal birds.

In the morning, you can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the Ecolodge. Then we will spend a leisure time wandering on the Tapacare path and learning something about the nearby forests and wild animals and plants. In the afternoon, we will enjoy another canoe tour. At night, the traditional "unucuabi" dinner will be prepared. Afterwards, take a walk along Paraba or Silbador path. You may encounter the reptiles, insects, tarantulas, rodents, birds, nocturnal monkeys, etc. After returning to the lodge, take part in the traditional Quechua - Tacana night to watch the music and dance performance of San José de Uchupiamonas community.

Go to La Paz today under the help of the guide. First, we will take the boat back to Rurrenabaque at the port in Tuichi River. After reaching there in 3 - 4 hours, the guide and the driver will escort you to the airport and see you off. When getting off the plane, the local driver will pick you up and lead you to the hotel for rest.
