Peach Garden Scenic Resort, Feicheng City

Treat yourself a visit to the beauty and peaceful Peach Garden. The charming Peach Garden Scenic Resort is located in Feicheng City, which is just over 80 kilometers from Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. It only takes an hour from Jinan to Feicheng by car or you can take the long distance bus from Jinan West coach station or Jinan General Coach station. Buses depart every 20 minutes.

Covering more than 494 acres, the Peach Garden Scenic Resort is full of exhilarating natural mountain air. Every year, the Peach Blossom Tourist Festival is held in April. This is when the peach blossom is out and Feicheng is at its most beautiful. You can also sample the bounteous Peach Banquet. Peach blossom and peach kernel are featured in the banquet. If you are short of time a half-day visit to the Peach Garden Scenic Resort should be sufficient. In the afternoon, make an expedition into Niushan National Forest Park, which lies in the Hi-tech Development Zone of Feicheng. Take the No. 4 bus and get off at Yangzhuangkuang and then take a taxi to the Niushan National Forest Park. The entrance fee to the National Park is CNY10. In the park you will find many historical sites, such as Youzishengyuan, Wenchang Pavilion, Niushan Temple and Sanqing Hall. The No. 1 ancient stockaded village in Shandong Province, Mukezhai is included in the Park. Return to Feicheng for an overnight stay. Clean and economical hostels and hotels are easy to find in Feicheng.

Baoxiang Temple, Wenshang County

For another sightseeing adventure take a long distance bus from Feicheng as far as Wenshang County. Wenshang County was also called Zhongdu in ancient times.  It has a long and rich history and culture and is a famous holy land for Buddhists. The Zhongdu Buddhist Center and many scenic spots are located in the western part of the county. There is a large Buddhist Cultural Theme Park that covers almost 204 acres. The main highlight is the Baoxiang Temple although the scenic area also includes the Taizi Lingzong Tower, Xumi Holy Mountain, Gongfeng Hall, World Square, the County Buddhist Cultural Museum and more. Travelers have the opportunity here to sightsee, pray, study Buddhism or just relax. For further exploration head to Liangshan County, which is the setting for one of the four famous Chinese classical works of literature, the “Water Margin”. There are as many as 40 historic sites and scenic sights scattered over the Liangshan area. In the southern area, the main highlights are Liangshan Mountain, Fenghuang Mountain and a series of lakes that stretch for 400 kilometers. In the northern part, you can find the Pinghu Lake, Lashan Mountain, and Kunshan Mountain. The lake is an important natural resource and is full of water lilies. In the golden autumn, there are many Kufu shows and performances relating to the 108 heroes of the “Water Margin”. It is well worth the entrance fee of CNY36.00.
