11 Days of Tunxi Town - Xinan River - Yixian Village - Mt. Qiyun - Mt.Huangshan - Huangshan City

Day by Day Itinerary

Departure: Daily

Day 01: Arrival in Huangshan City (Downtown Tunxi)
Arrive in Huangshan City (Downtown Tunxi) and get prepared. Stay overnight at a local hotel.


Day 02: Tunxi Town
Visit the Tunxi Town which has been one of the most important towns in the region since ancient times. It lies in the upper reaches of the XinAn River - the vital communications link between the provinces of Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejiang. The Ancient Tunxi Street is so antique and quaint that it has been referred to as 'The Town of the Song Dynasty' and has been used for shooting films of ancient Chinese stories. Walk on Tunxi Laojie Street.


Day 03: Tunxi Town - Xinan River
Trek along the Xinan River. It is a gently flowing river with forests of fir, bamboo, tea bushes, loquat and orange on either side. There are numerous scenic spots along the river.


Day 04: Xinan River - Yixian Village
Trek to the village of Yixian. In Yixian, hike in a Bamboo forest. This area is famous for the reservation of the architectures, ancient traditions and customs of Song Dynasty.


Day 05: Yixian Village - Mt. Qiyun
Climb Mt. Qiyun. Mt. Qiyun is one of the four holy places of Taoism in China, deeply revered and yearned for by Taoists. Its peaks, rocks and caves are red, giving the area the name "Landform of Rosy Clouds".

 
Day 06: Mt. Qiyun - Mt. Huangshan
Take a bus to the gate of Huangshan, trek about 3Km to Ciguange (770M) via Spring Pool, then hike about 2.5km to Banshansi temple (1340M). Stay overnight at a local hotel.

 
Day 07: Mt. Huangshan
Hike about 2.5Km to the foot of Heavenly Capital Peak (1500M), then hike up about 1.5km to the Summit (1829M) to enjoy the picturesque view. Then walk down about 3km to Jade-screen Tower (1680M) to enjoy the view of Jade- screen Peak (1716M). Stay overnight at a local hotel.


Day 08: Mt. Huangshan
Hike up about 1.5km to the Summit of Lotus-flower Peak (1864M), then walk down and up about 5Km to Lotus-flower Pavilion, Bieyudong and to pass through Center Sea Pavilion. Hike up Bright Summit (1840), and end at Northern-sea. Stay overnight at a local hotel.


Day 09: Mt. Huangshan
Early morning go to Cloud-dispelling Tower or Cloud-dispelling Pavilion and Western-sea area. Walk down 1.5 km through Western-sea to Northern-sea, then turn back to hike up either Begin- to-believe Peak (1683M) or Lion peak(1690M), a Qingliangtai platform for the sea of clouds or sun-rising as well, then walk down to Bai'eling. Stay overnight at a local hotel.


Day 10: Mt. Huangshan - Huangshan City
Walk down about 7.5km to Cloud Vally Temple. En route, enjoy the natural beauties. Then take a bus back to Huangshan City.


Day 11: Departure from Huangshan City
Leave Huangshan city according to your own schedule.

 

I read "Extreme Backpacking" and tend to agree on the packing list. For myself, it looks quite similar.

My must-haves are as follows:-
1) Toilet rolls
2) Medication (in case of getting sick)
3) Good walking shoe
4) flip-flops
5) poncho / raincoats
6) torchlight (especially usefull in smaller towns like Songpan)
7) Simple Toiletries - your full facial regime would not work when you are fighting to catch up with sleep)
8) Hat (for sun and cold, depending)
9) Swiss army knife - to cut anything edible or unedible.
10) wetwipes
11) water bottle
12)CAMERA
13) charger
14) batteries
15) adapter
16)and of course some change of clothes
17) & $$$$, plastic
18) additional light weight foldable bag for shopping Though sound alot but I managed to carry my "harvest" from shopping at the end of my trip.
